Crayfish in the canal
My local canal seems to have become totally infested with crayfish. Any time you fish on the bottom its constant little dips and lifts on the float. Most of the time when you strike there is nothing there, but every so often you hit a dead weight and its a crayfish. This week Ive been twice. Monday ...

New (old) pole for canal fishing...DAM Tectron
This week I've taken delivery of a pair of DAM Tectron poles. Its obviously a risk buying such an old pole, but as the fella had 2 to sell with quite a few spares I figured I'd have enough sections to cover some breakages. One of them seems to have been a spare and is pretty much mint. The top 3's ...

WREAKE CHAMPIONSHIPS 11TH NOV
I did manage to draw the scales again, unfortunately that was where my ability to predict the future ended. Scales meant end peg, so I should really have caught more than 15oz :-[ It all started going to pot when I couldn't get a bite on bread for the first 30 mins and I'd watched the fella next to ...

Small light canal box
I've brought an octoplus superstool. It doesn't hold a great deal of gear, but for fishing the canal its perfect. I initially brought it just for short pleasure sessions, but I think I'll be taking it on the canal matches this winter! They also do a couple of other boxes called 'strongboxes' These ...

Wigston A.S Pairs League - Round 4 GUC
The draw for the canal champs will be here at 8am. I would guess that pegging will depend on how many book on.... Rubbish match for me today. 6.5oz. I thought I was in for a good day when I pulled both end pegs out of the draw bags. All I could get was tiny roach and gudgeon on bread, so I decided ...

Wigston A.S. Pairs League - Round 3 GUC
Cheers Wayne! I have just about got the feeling in my hands back. What a grim day. Not the best day to loose my brolly! Joff - the winning weight came from the first peg where the canal returns to normal width. Steve was fishing about 14m pretty tight against the reeds. I was one peg to the right ...

If you made them yourself I think 1.5m x 1m would be a good size, which I think is the size of a blue euro pallet.
It might be worth asking about the EA. Maybe someone on the broome committee could confirm the arrangement. Only a couple were disabled pegs, the rest were a normal size.

Joff, When I was a member of Broome they had pegs fitted at the meadow lane lake. I am sure they were paid for or subsidised through some kind of grant from the EA or AT. http://www.broomeanglingsociety.co.uk/SystonWorkparty.jpg It might be worth a try. The only ptoblem is that I think they had to ...

adam or wayne. how did my partner do? Paul Greenhill. cant believe I am stuck in germany. I went to see a mate pleasure fishing on the way to the airport and he had caught two skimmers by 9am from below the lock on new bridge road. I reckon I would have bagged up if my lucky drawing arm had of ...

some of the first pole floats
I just stumbled on this thread and realised I had something similar looking in my shed. I presumed that these two floats were home made, but it looks like the black one at least was the real deal back in the olden days! :D Incidentally I've caught on both. I think I was given them when I was about ...

I was on the peg between the two Steves who were first and second, I only managed 14oz.
That performance didn't help my search for a partner for the pairs league!
