Small light canal box
Right fellas. I am looking for a "lightweight" box for my canal fishing. I use a Preston on box generally, but its like lugging a sideboard down the towpath. I want something I can set up for just canal work, possibly without using a trolley. A few "must haves"are: At least 2 front drawers and 1 cross draw. Small base unit. Footplate. Square legs would also mean I could utilise Off box bits, unless someone knows of a "round leg" package including add ons such as bait tray, spray bar etc. Have a budget of £150 to go at. Maybe there is someone out there who has one gathering dust in a shed.

Aww, no footplate. There are a few versions of it though with 4 or 6 drawers .

Do you really need a footplate for on the cuts MrV ??? - I've never ever used one on the towpath.......

Try Willenhall angling centre, I saw a box in there, square legs, at that very price, considered it myself until I realised I have a virtually new little gem box I shall use, it did have a footplate, but I , like TK, dont think ya need em, also, on box accessories are easily adapted, cus you just have to change the inserts..... looked into it as Im thinking on teh very same lines lol

This might be suitable:

Not heavy and well built. Worth looking on ebay for these as there are bits & bats for them popping up all the time.

I got one of those. Feels like there's a full dinner service inside.
Just my old Little Gem thingy for the cut & rivers.

When I gaze up the towpath after the draw it always reminds me of those refugees in World War 2 - the ones you saw fleeing with all the worldly possesions they could carry......

I've brought an octoplus superstool. It doesn't hold a great deal of gear, but for fishing the canal its perfect. I initially brought it just for short pleasure sessions, but I think I'll be taking it on the canal matches this winter!
They also do a couple of other boxes called 'strongboxes' These have a bit more capacity but still look quite light.
