Churchgate Match Lake 24th April
Well Colin went and fished it yesterday. The weather wasnt good and he fished mainly pole at 6 metres. Apparently there is a hill up to the lake which is not very long but very steep and the lake is open to the elements so lets hope the wind doesnt blow.
There were a couple of anglers casting their carp gear towards the island and they had 3 or 4 carp in the 7 to 8lb range and a 7lb grass carp.
Colin only hooked one carp which broke him on his lighter gear. He did manage a good number of Ide skimmers and roach with a couple of the Ide over 2lb.

maybe someone has booked a stripagram for his birthday ?

You could be right Peter. However I do like Clives idea now who wants to ask Gladys if she would like to combine both roles on the day.

Well I never thought that a volcano in Iceland would stop me going on my trip to Slovakia and Austria - but it has. So if theres still room I'm in for Saturday and also for a brekkie!

At least it will give you a chance to break in your new pole Tony.
Ooops, poor choice of words there.

Yeah right
I see your thinking we might actually catch a few? I reckon it could be hard going - just 22 pegs and almost all in . Wonder where they'll all spook to?

Most will spook to pegs 4 and 5 Tony and the rest will go to the centre of island.

Right there are 20 of us and only 22 pegs so i will be speaking to him to order breakfast tomorow and will ask about having the back lake as well.
The word from our resident non match angler who fished it on Tuesday (but not practising),is that it is likely to be a bit harder than we expect and could fish like the bottom lake. Looks like im off to get some maggot tomorrow.

Right I have spoken to the baliff and the back lake will cost another £100 so not really viable. As the bottom lake is apparently fishing better than the top as has 26 pegs, I have, after speaking to some members changed our match to the bottom lake.

I do hope Clive brings the mangle tomorrow, it might get quite a bit of use, especially on Dave after the match.

I wll claim immunity by using some of those brownie points I have earned by booking you some great bagging venues over the years. Anyway you wouldnt have a go at a guy on his birthday.... Would you?
Be positive... Its a great Venue and we are going to bag up and Gladys wont beat any of us. I have done all I can to help her. her silvers rigs are freshly made up on brand new .24 line, with extra blunt size 12 hooks and I have checked her nets. They have holes in them but I havent got time to repair them.
I have given her some 4 week old maggots as she says older maggots stay on the hook better, Shame my fridge isnt working.
