Churchgate Match Lake 24th April

#1

Unread post by Dave C »

Got a confirmation of our next match at Churchgate. We have fished the nottom lake on a couple of occasions without much success so this time I have gone for the match lake. once again it is a lake that non of us have fished before so info is sparse.
I suspect that Colin will  again be taking a trip to practise so any info I can get from him ill post on here.
There have been some changes in the lakes as he has split the old top lake into 2 to make a 10 peg silvers lake and a 22 peg carp lake. A lot of fish from Mick Toomers fishery Gloucester Park were transferred to the silvers lake. I also know that the old lake used to contain a good quantity of Grass carp.

Breakfasts and sarnies will be available but I need to notify him how many on the Friday before so place your orders here.
Come on then who is up for it.

I'm led to believe that the lake looks something like this now......

Image

The gap between the two islands has been filled in, with access added on the ends that's created the new Back Lake. ;)
I'm not sure if they've changed the existing pegging though.

Dave,

I've sent Simon a message but I think he's doubtful as I believe he will be at a Sandown birthday bash on the Friday.

Dave,

Sorry I'm going to have to decline Churchgate this year. My son was inconsiderate enough to be born on 24th April 1989 which makes it his 21st birthday and he has made it quite clear that he will hold a very dim view of me if I go fishing that day. When we spoke on the phone I was under the impression that he would still be in Twickenham (University) but as it turns out he will be at home. If I don't get dragged down the pub lunchtime (kicking and screaming - of course) I might try and come down for the weigh in as I only live 20 minutes away.

OK then boys and Gal

What can we expect from Churchgate?

Looking at the map and photos on the website a feeder and pole lines look favourite. It seems there are a few carpy things about upto a decent size. But is it predominantly carp or will you need some of the Gloucester Park roach to score well?

What do you reckon will win it?

I hope not as the Gloucester Park roach are meant to be in the small 10 peg lake that we arent fishing. Image Image

I will be taking a trip up there before the match to check the pegging and if it looks tight and depending on the cost I may try to get him to let us have 4 or 5 fishing the silvers lake. Im sure we could get volunteers to fish it. Image

There may be more information available tomorrow as a certain member, who is not a serious match angler and isnt worried if he wins, has gone there today to practice. Image Image Image Image
