Angling trust announce 2013 nationals

The Angling Trust has announce the dates and venues for the National Championships for Coarse Angling 2013 - and has included a new event - the National Stillwaters Championships at Lindholme lakes, Hallcroft Fishery and Hayfield lakes, which is open to all Division 1 and Division Two teams.

In doing so they have responded to concerns from anglers about putting the Division Two National 2013 onto a commercial fishery for the first time, and instead it will be held on the Great Ouse in early August, with the Division One National 2103 booked for the Trent and Mersey Canal on a date yet to be confirmed...

The Cadets, Juniors & Intermediates National Championship will take place at Tunnel Barn Farm Fishery on June 29th, 2013.

The Ladies National Championship will be fished at Colemans Cottage Fishery, Witham, Essex on June 8th, 2013, with the Veterans National Championship booked at Monk Lakes Fishery, Marden, Kent on Wednesday 7th August 2013 .

Dates and venues have yet to be confirmed for the Individual National Championship 2013, the Anglers with Disabilities National Championship 2013, the Schools National Championship 2013 and the Preston Innovations Club Classic 2013.

I haven't been fishing very much after a long lay off and I must admit, I had intended to but haven't got round to joining. I've been on a couple of Commercials since I started again and this isn't the type of fishing I enjoy so this has made my mind up not to join. >:(

So - reading the latest AT release, it seems that the entry criteria for the Stillwater Championships are:

(1) Already registered with the AT and entered in the 2013 Division 1 or 2 Nationals.

(2) New teams showing an interest in the Stillwater Championships have to register with the AT and enter the 2013 Division 2 National - whether they want to fish it or not.

I'm only surmising these are correct, because it doesn't actually say in specific terms what teams not registered with the AT have to do. It certainly makes it a very expensive match for these teams & I suspect there won't be much additional interest due to the costs involved.

Something there for everyone i guess ?

The cadets catching vermin F1s ???? surely they should be on a proper natural venue learning / using proper skills leading to potential international anglers ???

The Vets and Disabilities Nationals on holes in the ground make sense due to park behind your peg / short walks etc , etc .......

Guess i will take up golf in my twilight years ....... no way will i be fishing a national on a commercial !  ;)

You'd be better off doing that as the Angling Trust couldn't give a monkey's about the disabled angler.
