67 fished, a bit more colour in the river linked to a rising tide for most of the match produced slightly better weights than the previous Saturday.

The section weights are also impressive

So as can be seen the fish are reasonably well spread throughout the match length but an end peg is a definite advantage. The bream are mostly from 6oz to 2 1/2lb but go to 6lb so there are of bites. The roach are still there but you need bream to win.

I believe Tony Gibbons had 20lb + of roach in the 90's on Saturday but THE Mark Pollard (we have two of them fishing the series the other is called Chunky) only managed 16lb off the same section. So there are plenty to go at, it just depends what size you get as to what the weight is. If the river fishes like last year, later in the year there will be 30 to 40lb weights of roach, even 50's on a pleasure session if you pick the right peg on the right day.

All the bream weights come on the feeder. Very few are hooked on the pole and they rarely come out on roach tackle in that flow. There was a Browning guy on peg 62 last Saturday fishing for roach on the pole, I don't know what he weighed but he had 54lb on 61 and and 45lb on 63. I presume that he enjoyed his day but what a battering !

It has happened to me the other way around this year in two matches. I only fish for bream at this time of the year on the tip and had 28lb of roach with the odd small skimmer next to me on the pole feeder one day.

The clever guys like Nick Larkin and Chris V fish the tip, snare a lump or two then top up with roach on the pole if it isn't happening. I tend to stick to the feeder and curse the luck of the draw

Hi Richard,

I drew 141 on saturday, thought I`d be on a few fish but it was quite poor around that area. Both end pegs 136 and 144 caught skimmers 31lb & 28lb rest of us struggled. I had 2 skimmers and two bootlaces for about 2lb in the first hour then fished the pole for the remainder to finish up with just under ten pound. unfortunately although the weights look good, until the roach start to show properly anyone in the middle of sections hasn`t got a chance.
Still think its the best river venue in the country though!
I guess we`re spolit, but the previous week I went to Evesham and fished both days. What a karzey that place is, lovely setting, great scenery, easy parking behind pegs, butboy is the fishing hard! Why it sells out each week is beyond me. Oh and by the way drew next to CWH on the saturday.

Sounds an amzing river that I would love to fish, just a shame its a five hour journey for me :( otherwise I would be on there every week. I will have to do with the river weaver for now although its more like a big canal than a river and 10lb is a good weight.

not quite theses weights

but 30lb were common in two different club matches

Tidal trent champs this weekend...matches were planned around high tides...but looks like theres gonna be more extra in than we bargained for.

Fingers crossed eh!.... and lets see what develops

Another dnw for me !!!!
I must admit the novelty is wearing off me aswell mate !!!!!
I am afraid 81 pegs is too much, 60 is ample !!
The trouble is too many matches on a length of river where not all the fish have spawned. The constant low water temp will not help the perch, tench, eels and roach, hence the hard area's. The river still has not hit summer level since the season started and with the forcast for more rain I can only see Bream winning again with the weekend rest (apart from pleasure fishing).
I suppose a few will be on a few !!!!!!!!
Did a aa route planner for the Yare. 172 miles but because it's cross country it's 3 hours and 36 minutes. I think it's just too much even for me !!!
I would love to fish a sat/sun if anybody knows of 2 events (is there a bure/ yare weekend ?) together as I would stop down. Anybody know owt ???

you might be interested in the broads festival on the thurne and bure plus the broads champs. The festival is a two dayer on 3rd and 4th october (weds & thurs) with the broads champs on the 6th (sat). Good fishing in a lovely part of the world. That`ll help you get evesham out of your system.

p.s. i`m just about to leave for the tidal trent champs. Let you know how i get on.
