Ladies National. River Severn about 1982.
wife of the great Geoff Shinn from Upton upon Severn.
Hi Mach3, this picture was taken slightly earlier
The accompaning report reads........
Marjorie Shinn refused to budge from her weed - chocked swim on the middle reaches of the River Severn, even though match stewards gave her the chance to move to a clearer peg in the 1979 NFA Ladies National Championship
Her judgment proved sound. Despite the weed handicap she raced ahead to win with a record breaking weight of 37lb 11/4 oz of barbel, taken with double maggot hook bait and a swimfeeder packed with caster and hemp.
Marjorie is a Worcester tackle dealer and wife of former Worcester national angler Geoff Shinn. Her memorable catch topped the previous best weight in a Ladie's National, set by Doncaster's Linda Purchase with 31lb 1oz on the Severn.
May Vince of Evesham was second with 26lb 5oz from the Hampton Loade stretch. Pat Bowler, from Trowbridge, was third with 22lb 13oz, also from Hampton Loade.
