Have our expectations of winning weights risen too high in recent years? If so, why?
Or are we 'correct' to expect double figures on our canal matches? Is it just me 'out of step'?
I've pulled back the Cashmores canal results over the last 30 years (all the canal results I can lay my hands on) and they do make quite interesting reading.
In fact there's a few stats that surprised me
Do you realise that out of the last 15 canal matches my winning weight of 4 - 15- 10 taken at Penkridge last year, just 6 drams short of a level 5lb was the only winning weight lower than 5lb from those 15 matches.......
Even more startling I find is out of the last 27 canal matches there have only been 4 matches with a sub 5lb winning weight - amazed me that did.
