The 5th round of the Oxford summer league was fished by 7 teams of 6 on the Thames at Folly bridge and Sandford. The river was carrying a brown tinge to it due to a algae bloom but this encouraged the fish to feed freely along both stretches with 7 weights over 19lb and numerous double figure weights.
1st Tony Hobbs – Drennan Oxford Yellow – 20lb 15oz. Tony drew top end peg at Folly below Osney lock and had a bream plus skimmers and perch on the pole and maggot over chop worm feed and backed it up with roach on pole and caster.
2nd Geoff Vallance – Devizes MG – 20lb 14oz. Preston Innovations backed Geoff guesting for Devizes drew at the bottom of Marlborough road at Folly and had 1 bream plus perch on the pole and worm and then had 4 more bream plus skimmers on a open end feeder and worm.
3rd Arnold Liaukevicius – Drennan Oxford Yellow – 20lb 5oz. Arnold drew at the top end of Coca Cola bay at Folly and had 6 bream on the open end feeder and worm and then had roach on the pole and caster.
4th Paul Harrop – Devizes MG – 19lb 10oz.
