Must say the A/Ts volunteers did a great job on this National signs, directions and helpful stewards i thought the venue was hard yet fair and turned out a good match
at the start the trust announced the river had been found be full of an invasive species of shrimp
but forward thinking told everyone to make sure they dry their nets properly before moving on to their next venue
my match wasn't the best really struggled caught a few but no size to them could wish you chopped worm rig to go under and with one tench winning the section it would of only taken one bite
often known for my bridge pegs this week saw me in the middle of the section between two bridges fish were caught around one bridge but the other wasn't in the section but we could see fish topping
for us in the middle between the bridges it was who had caught the slightly big fish
still we did have the match winner in Pete marlow Leicester sensas who had one of those faultless days and ended up with 50kg plus of bream
great angler on a peg
well done to black horse coming 2nd and bait-tech 3rd choppies team we managed 8th can't complain we hadn't put the practice in but i was disappointed only 4 teams were promoted the norm is 8 to 10
this wasn't announced until the end
still 33 teams fished

this weekend saw the first of the two all England National competitions where 33 teams of ten anglers travel from all over the country to fish .The venue for this competition was the River ouse cambridgeshire near ST Ives with little time to practice the Leicester sensas squad had little time for practice and every member had to sort there own pegs out.Pete Marlow Leicester sensas had never seen the river before but after seeing anglers below him catching bream Pete changed from the pole to the feeder and never looked back and at the end of the match Pete had netted 25 bream to 7lb at one stage Pete had that many fish in his peg he began foul hooking them Pete's best bait was two worms and a caster for in creditable 50kg 350 grams well over 100 pound in weight
Leicester sensas also had some other good results with Nick moss winning his section Mark Eustace finishing 3rd in his section but the final point total saw them finish in 8th place 18 points off a medal and top three finish
1ST Pete Marlow Leicester sensas 50kg 350g
2nd Nigel Grindle Pelham AC 37kg 600g
3rd Paul Ripley urban moor leeds 31kg 110g
4th Kevin rowles Devizes AA 18kg 160g
5th Mick hanks suffolk county 11kg 630g
TEAMS ON THE DAY
1ST Devizes AA 243PTS
2ND Garbolino Blackhorse 242 points this was a tie on points so it went to weight 19kg 270g
3rd Maver Bait tech 242 points weight 16 kg 710g
4th Pelham Piscatorials AC 237 points
5th Browning Northants 233points
6th Royal navy/Royal marines 223 points
7th Matchpack angling direct 221 points
8th Leicester sensas 219 points

YES TOMMY I'VE HAVE HAD A LONG CHAT WITH THE ANGLING TRUST TODAY ::) ::)had my hand slapped
and had a lot of questions answered by bob dyer unfortunately they are equalling the numbers out for each division 50 teams in each this is because the lack of venues that can be used 10 teams will drop out of div 1 for sure
next year it will be 10 up 10 down
i'm hoping the Trust will answer a few more questions by coming on a few forums so at least the anglers can be told right or wrong
as for admin i have asked the question and hopefully they could see my point and just tell us where the money goes i know £1000 was spent on the draw site i know staff had to be put up over night stewards two to a section had to be paid the trust as a business made around a £1000 so the money soon mounts up
but none of us mind as long as we can see it on black and white paper
