Many of you knew and fished with my dad on Marsh days out. Unfortunately he passed away peacefully yesterday morning following 4 weeks in hospital with a lung infection aged 87.
I know he will mostly be remembered for his comments to me in colourful " ockers" language following my failure to weigh in on our first match on Woods lake at Colemans Cottage after he had finished 2nd.
He hadnt been able to fish much since then but has always shown an interest in our results.
Rest in peace Dad.

Sad news indeed Dave.
Stan was a true character with his East End docker ways.
He will be sadly missed by all those who had the honour to meet him.
Heart felt condolences to you and the rest of the family.
RIP Stan.
Regards
Kev and Jean.

Dave,
The sad passing of a truly great character.A real diamond
Having, like others in the original Marsh setup, met Stan I have missed his haranguing of you.
He would, most certainly, have put Mr. Loader in his place.
RIP Stan

RIP Stan - a character and a half. Brings back happy memories of my early days as a Marsh guest. Stan's b*ll*cking seems to have done the trick tho' - dont think you've blanked since?
As per our long phone call Dave - sincere condolences to you and your family.

Well its all over now. Funeral was on Friday and went well. Thanks to John for coming along and also Dads fishing mates from the Bermondey Club.
Unfortunately Kevin and Jean couldnt make it as planned as his mum wasnt well.
The Grandkids clubbed together and had a wreath made of a fisherman which was attached at the back of the hearse. I must admit it was rather impressive and attracted a lot of attention from passers by on the way to the crematorium. I definately want one like it when its my turn. ( my photobucket isnt working at the mo so please click the links for the photos.)
Thank you all for your many comments and thoughts and Im sure Dad would have appreciated the fact that so many people cared about him.
