PART 7 HOLLAND AT ITS BEST

Imagefrom what i can remember at the half way point of the festival the group meeting town in the town square was very despondent ,we had got it really really wrong pegs were turning up with bream where the day before they had struggled  :D :D we'd ruled out the groundbait although the feed content needed to be looked at, rigs and tackle we had all walked along the bank looking at everyone's tackle that had done well and we al thought we'd about got them right  :D :D :D :D then it turned towards that old chestnut  ::) ::)there's no fish in the canal ,i'm not wasting anymore time on this venue  Image Image Image
quick more beer  ::) ::) ::) before someone tops themselves   Image Image Image
it was time to lay the law down !!! Image Image Image
and i simply said there are two ways to treat the voorne canal and festival we either come for the crack and a holiday [ which i do like 10 days away from the tank commander is bliss Image] or we put all our time and effort into practicing properly and start ruling things out on the days leading upto the festival then fish the practice matches on the Saturdays and Sunday and hopefully we will do a lot better Image Image Imagewell that did the trick  ;)

Image

Image Image  straight back to the bar  in the sportsman
the weather had turned that night with heavy rain and a lot cooler

Image

we had a thunder and lighting show earlier in the day
day three saw me on 160 next to the peg where higgy had battered me but this time i had thought about that day
cut my G/B down to 12 balls with half a tin of corn and 250ml of casters all balled in at 11mtrs Imagei had decided to leave my feeder rod back at the digs and just setup a straight bomb and 3 top 5s plus a short number 6 as i intended to fish a lot move on the deck
i feed a few maggots via cup at 12mtrs and left the 13m alone i'd clipped the straight bomb to this line  8-) 8-)feeling quite confident
again i could see bicko and yes again he was in the middle of the section to my right one of the Belgium's  [s Imagemiley=surprise.gif] i'd never seen so much G/B GOING INTO THE CANAL PLUS HE THEN SPENT THE NEXT HALF HOUR CUPPING MORE IN  Image Image Imagei thought bingo that's you fu#ked

Image
WHY-O-WHY do i think  these thing  Image Image Image
ten minutes into the match it was nil four to the Belgium  Image Image Image
a few deep breaths and gathered my thoughts and sat there you name it it was going through my mind  :D :D :D :D :D when suddenly the float popped up clunk come to daddy the first of ten bream i'd caught up with mr van floss-banger 10 a piece at the end of the match and yes the first person to walk down the bank was biscuit tin bicko  Image Imageand when asked how many I'd caught the words just fell out all wrong ttttt ten Blair dribble ::) ::) ::)then biscuit tin said you might of done me  Image Image Image Image
yes yes yes yes !! why-o-why do i get sucked in  Image Imagebicko had 20kg i think or 16kg i'd had 12kg and floss banger had beaten me by 250g  Image Image Imagestill a vast improvement  and 5 points

Fesival day 3 and all up early ready to sieze the day !
Groundhog day yet again.
Lee cooks the breakfast like he always does , me and Andy look for sh#t like we always do and then I mix the gb with exactly the same amount of water that I always use !
We leave for the draw at our usual time and buy beer + coffee and drink them in our usual seats while wearing the same clothes as we've worn all week !!!!!!
Higgy and I need a good draw , another performance like the last 2 days will guarentee us a festival top 5 finish and another £1000 between us.
Higgy has drawn 2 in , a good peg with Belgiums Stign Trotski on the end peg. I drew p154 , the same peg as the first day :(
To my right is Kevin Jones and then snedster , on my left is my good Dutch friend Martin Wolschrijn.
He said to me in perfect English on arriving at his peg " Bloody hell mofo , this is my worst nightmare to be sure , drawing next to you , what are these pegs like ? "
I replied in fluent Dutch " Kak op de bak " which means not very good !!!!
So we set up and waited for the start ..............

I added the exact same amount of casters + corn to the exact amount of gb that I always use and fed this at exactly 11 Metres that I always do !
Its all about repeatability + reproduceability.
Everyone in the 15 peg section seemed to catch straight away , even Joffmiester , me , I couldn't get an indication :(
At the halfway stage I was still fishless and last in the section.
Martin on my left had 3 and Kevin on my right had 4 , even Joff had 8 or 9 and I started to fear the worst
>:(
With 90 minutes to go I had my 1st bream and I thought I'd need another 5 or 6 to even finish in the top half of the section :-[
With 60 minutes to go the Bream arrived and I had 10 or 11 in that last hour :D
That was enough for 2nd in the section and a guarenteed 6 points overall or better.
Whatever happened to Stign Trotski ?
He only had 17 kilo on the end peg and Higgy was the hero of that section to come 2nd in the whole match with 20+ kilo and a guarenteed 5 points

Big cup you need to learn the weights of the things you catch because 60lb as always been the limit on there last time you put another net in when you ad 35lb in it why not today??

43lb actually and the limit was 50 then. They now say 60lb. I only had about 40 to 43lb when i put my last fish in net at 2:58, only trouble is it was bigger than I thought and went around the 18lb mark, it was in the net less than 20minutes. I use a 4m 800mm diameter net compared to a lot that only have 2.5m 400mm so the welfare of the fish wasn't an issue. I have been there when 174lb was weighed and counted in one net and I have also seen weights over the limit counted since they restricted it. If I had been a regular it would of counted, even duddley and carling etc said he was out of order!!
Just cant get a draw :facepalm :facepalm
