i'd booked in at packington after being talked into it by Joe Roberts plenty of silvers coming out but you might not win the match but the last couple of weeks 2nd 3rd have been silvers and close to winner [fin how is taking the place apart]
i think 39 had booked on and the lake we were fishing was morlands ,i great lake but not your average commercial
was i set off the wind was gala force knocking the van about abit, and i did think is it really worth it still the only alternative was Christmas shopping with the tank commander
the rest of the lads had gone there own way some on the stainy and the rest dotted around ,anyway i arrived after listening to cold plays new album onthe M6 ordered a breakfast and then stuck my head into the previous result book and asked a few questions of what had been caught where .it looked like the good pegs and areas were still carp but looking around the draw room it seamed that a lot of anglers had the same idea and had turned up dew to the lack of matches else where .one half of the lake was blowing a gale and the other was quite calm and these were the carp pegs :-/richard lee who does really well there draw spot on and one of the 5 bonus pegs ::)i drew 19 with a gale blowing right to left and i mean blowing i had been told that it was going to die down as the day went on so i opted to feed a pole line at 11m and one at 6 but to my left but would start on the small method and straight bomb needless to say the first hour resulted in one roach and one liner i had kept feeding my pole lines so i thought i'd have a go on the 6m line this resulted in a few roach to pound but never really got started :-/the wind was dropping and by 1pm i could have my first real look at 11m. well it sat there not a bite so i re-fed and took a little walk and no one had caught anything a part from the odd f1 and roach :-/so i went back and put my pole bar on and put 20in on the deck and sat there and sat there and after what seamed like20 mins it went under a plump f1 sorted i thought then nothing i looked behind me and i'd brought some bread punch well it was in my bag from mid week ::)so i thought i've got nothing to loose so i put a cup full in at 13m and went straight on it with a big punch needless to say the fish fish was a carp that broke my hook length more by surprise than anything next put in and geared up nothing so i re-fed and tried the 11m on worm nothing and the then the 6m nothing :Da real puzzle as ithought the fish were in the the peg :-/went back on the 13m line but this time 15in on the deck this resulted in a bream a good bream but then disaster it came off hook bait stillon and not really touched foul hooked it must of been a few more f1s followed but again this foul hooking happened three time during the rest of the match i tried dead depth tried 3in on even off the bottom all resulting in no bites apart from roach.i could of kicked myself as only 13lb won my section i ended up with 11lb odd and 24lb won the match [richard lee] and another 13lb being last in again enjoyed the day and i was soon playing cold play on the way home and i nice sunday lunch waiting for me [whether it was made for me or not is another story as i'm never home before 8pm normally ]
