certainly be interesting to hear what MrV has to say as he appeared to echo my sentiments
Well here goes then ::)
The opinion you expressed to me after the match was exactly how I have been feeling lately about some matches I have been on. Because of my back problems, and my recent "heart scare", I have fished more commies than I had hoped to this year, but must admit, it has been handy parking behind the peg. It is great to get out on the bank anytime, but, even though I have won a couple on Carp venues this year, it has been doing what I consider I do best, silvers fishing. I am sure if the Carp had been in feeding mode at Thorpe, I would have probably finished in the bottom 5, and Claires pool was generally abysmal if it hadnt been for the banter. I think I seriously considered packing in twice during that match, but kept going cos of the laughs.
I have respect for the commie lads, as they have learned their "trade" on these venues, but I am much in the same mode as you TK, I just cannot put in enough time on them or feel cofident enough in what I am doing, to be any good at it
I will be picking and choosing my matches next season, as following my upcoming operation, I hope to be fit enough to fish more Rivers and Cuts with long walks. Much as I love club fishing, and the characters on the bank, what with the cost of fuel, bait etc, I will be staying local, and fishing venues and methods I know, and have confidence in.
I was well impressed watching Dead peg fish the pellet wag, and thought how easy he made it look, but I know he has put time in to perfect the method. Difference is, I would rather put my time into catching a nice net of Roach, Dace, Chub or bream on a natural venue, in a pleasant setting, not sittin 4 or 5 yards away from the lad in the next peg ( I could have blinded Cotti or Yamo with my top 3 on Saturday if I was that way inclined
Here endeth the sermon.............
