Club Fees 2011
I have had a quick run through of the cash situation for this year and, depending on the attendance at Hartleylands, it looks like we are on course to make a loss of around £120 this year.
This does not cause a major problem as it is easily covered from our reserves. However, as booking fees are likely to continue to rise, and I have already booked Woods Lake at Colemans which is £40 more than our usual costs for Pathfield we need to do something.
I propose we raise the annual fee from the current £25 per member to £27. Also increase the match fee from £5 to £6 ( Juniors from £3 to £4 ) but leave the guests fee of £10 as it is.
Based on our current average member attendance per match of 17, these combined increases should produce an additional income of around £180 in a season. This will cover the shortfall for next year and leave a bit for unexpected extra costs.
These would be the first increases in the 5 years since we started funding ourselves and they quite small. This is mainly due to the superb attendance we get at our matches. An average of 17 members and 2 guests out of an total membership of 21 would be envied by a lot of clubs.
Would you please post any comments or objections on this thread.

No problem with the financial side of things. Every club needs to look forward to the future otherwise they will struggle.
However a bunch of accountants and they are taking a loss.
Club support has been fantastic this year and there are people in the background willing to join. I think £27 is fair compared to a lot of clubs where you are restricted to local waters. We get to fish the waters that we like and want to fish.
I will sort out the money at HLF for the forthcoming season.

Dave.
Why not make the membership fee £30 and keep the match fee at £5.
Do we still have a junior section?
Either way no problem with me I'll pay you the 2011 money at Hartleylands.

That wont work as an extra £5 on the fees will only produce around £100, whereas £1 on the match fee produces about £140.
Also from the psychological point of view a 20% increase of £5 can produce a poor response, while a smaller increase plus a little on the match fees should get approval from everyone. Surprisingly the smaller increases will raise nearly twice as much.
Trust me I was treasurer for 2 angling clubs for 20 years and been looking after Marsh since 1985. I have learnt a few tricks along the way.

Impeccable accounting fella. Proposal sounds good to me.
Trouble is its taken me ten years to (not) remember the match fee + pools , and now I've got to learn a new one all over again. Phew, thats my excuse for not having the right money for the next ten years sorted.

You could always take the easy way out Tony. Just give me a tenner £20 note and tell me to keep the change whatever it is.

Dont panic guys. I wasnt asking for money now... This season hasnt finished yet.
I am just making you all aware of my thoughts of what we need to do and get your agreement. Still if all you rich buggers out there are so eager to get rid of your money and want to pay me at Hartleylands that is fine. It will save having to send me cheques next year.

You dont have to have a pole to fish Dave. A few of our members dont have one and they still do OK.
Where do you live as Im sure there are a lot of clubs out there wanting members, and someone may be able to point you to one.
