You could have opened a can of worms there TK ![Image](http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/images/converted_files/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/tiphat.gif)
Your venues are your own or have cheaper or no peg fee's. Making everything cheaper on a whole.
The venues we have are all getting on too £7 a peg now. Obviously this will come out the members pocket.
Because of the rising peg prices the club fee's will have to go up.
Commercials(most of our matches) are very popular with clubs and general fishermen these days so I think this give the owners the impression they can charge what they like and make people buy THEIR OWN fishery pellets adding yet more cost.
At the end of the day I pay to fish with a group of blokes that have a good laugh and don't take things to serious, I would pay £100 a year for that. So I think £60 is pretty good value

I don't get away without paying pegs fees or if our own water we have to pay the lease which is incorporated within our financial structure (this year is the first time we've got a club water - the W&E at Pelsall although i've beooked it and paid for it in the past)
We fish a greater no rivers & cuts than yoursleves seemingly(4 rivers. 4 cuts and 7 pools this year) which brings the membership fee down considerably ...........plus we only win threepence halfpenny (that's 31/2d for those not of the predecimal age)

Si this is why fishing clubs are dying or dwindling away. Comercials are banging up the costs of pegs which means the clubs have to pay more to have matches on the venues which gets past down to the member by increasing membership fees. The younger members, family members, them out of work or on low incomes, or the older members whove retired find it hard to pay these increase membership fees so drop out of clubs.
Its a big catch 22 situation as clubs need to fish the better venues to attract members but by fishing the better venues means higher peg fees. When i fished for hawkins the season before last they were having this problem. There members wanted to fish better venues to catch fish but most couldnt afford to pay (in thier eyes) the high membership fee £70, so hawkins leased Izaack waltons pool in Newtown to hold matches on there to allow them to still fish lots of matches but to try and reduce the membership fee. Even by leasing the pool they still had to pay the lease, its just that because its a day ticket water any money generataed off day tickets go into paying for the lease.
At the end of the day while clubs are willing to keep booking venues and paying £7, 8 9 10 plus a peg and filling the venues each week the owners are only going to keep putting the prices up each year. If all the clubs stopped fishing at simples pool because hes charging a tenna a peg then simole would have to think how to get the matches back which would mean simple dropping his prices.
years ago you had clubs booking 52 seater coaches to take the club to a match then the other half of the members sulking coz they couldn't get on the coach. How bigg are clubs today !5 strong? 20 if they are lucky ?

When we was at the Jam Factory I saw a few coaches pull up with loads of blokes onboard but never seen it anywhere else.
Fishing on a whole has just boomed. I wonder if it will do a full circle and alot of anglers will return to rivers, cuts and natural lakes put off by the high peg prices.
Another thing, Are they actually high prices for what you are getting....
Most venues have CCTV car parks next to or close to the pool or lake.
Cafe and toilets.
Nice platforms to sit on.
Well kept banks, i.e no overgrown bushes etc
These are businesses which the owners are trying to make money on.
But at the end of the day do you really need all that to go out and catch some fish and have a enjoyable day ?
