Hi Al - there's no bait ban (other than w&j at that time of year) and no one magical bait

Obviously baits like corn, pellet, boille etc tend to be selective, but being a tiddler snatcher, I often latch into 'better rogue' fish on the likes of punch, pinkie and caster.

Have a little read here to get a 'flavour' of the place - there's quite a few links inside with pictures etc.

As for whats a canal - I always remember MrV's Rugeley Matchgroup when we used to fish against them in the 80's describe it as an 'elongated' pool - rather than a 'canal' - if we see a boat on the day it will be unusual
