wait a minute he never had a bream what did he have roach
He caught skimmers under the sunken branches on red maggot over chopped worm, 3 hours in he must have been 5 kilo up on me until the skimmers turned up on my g/b line, so there were bream in his peg but they never moved over his g/b, the day before i didn't feed any fishmeal and caught less skimmers(and smaller) than Higgy next to me and his line where he caught them was only about 6 metres from mine.
Never fished annies. Geary's is brillliant, we always used to find we could catch Bream, ( good fish too) late down the edge.
We could use pellets and groundbait didn't have an impact for us.
One thing seems strange to me, did all the teams get to practice. If so and a fishmeal mix was better( and I agree with you actually, if I was to fish there now I would use fishmeal) Why use a sweet mix?
we practiced and the lads that used fishmeal caught less by a long way taffy a sweet mix seamed to be better on the first day whether the cold weather had something to do with it yet in hindsight day one i should of put a second line in with fishmeal as a few anglers caught late on
so the second day i used im5s with lake for the waggler line and just leam and lake on the pole as i new we wouldn't catch on the pole the second day

Now I'm confused, the guy next to Lloydy fed a sweet mix, yet the bream in his peg wouldn't move over it, but then for your guys a sweet mix was better on the first day.
too complicated for me. Joff, perhaps you're team just didn't draw very well or you took an educated gamble and it didn't pay off
Why not just use 50/50 sweet gb and crushed pellets, that way you give the fish the best of both. On the practice match the week before I used 1 third lake, 1 third leam and a third crushed expander and caught 20lb of roach with the odd skimmer. If id have known what fish were in the lake I would probably not used any crushed expander so just goes to show. Remember all these fish see most of the year round is pellets, crushed expander is only a mild fishmeal as well really.
Anyone got any tips on pellet fishing as its Larford for me the weekend, Bill surely you can tell me something about them.
