Poll will be showcase (top of forum) only for ½ a day, sorry if it annoys anyone

There seem to be more and more people using them now I was wondering how many people here use them ?

If you do use Hand mades, what's your choice and why ?

I use Malman floats and have done for years now. I have seen them come through the different stages over the years too, they have improved with time too and become a lot stronger.
Only had one break. I pulled out of a carp at Willowmarsh, the float shot back hit my knuckle and the tip snapped off it.
I use mainly use Thicko's and Snake 4's for carp venues.

I found an old link for some hand mades that I think TK would like Image Image  http://www.freewebs.com/ackoos--floats/riverfloats.htm

Si, I use mainly John Walker floats, strong and reliable.
I've not used malmans but may give them a try.

Mainly Wilkies for me, but use quite a few malman thickos and silvers floats.
I have seen them come through the different stages over the years too, they have improved with time too and become a lot stronger

Dont quite agree with you there Si as I have some of the older thickos with the thinner black stems. When he changed the stems to the current glass ones he had to increase the body size to compensate for the additional weight. The current body of a 4x12 float is the same size as the old 4x14. I much prefer the old style.

Got to see some of the Wilkie Dinkys last weekend and they look spot on for me, also I fancy some of Hillbillys Pikey pastes and grizzlys. I can feel my float ordering finger twitching already. :-[ :-[

I use a lot of Malman Thicko's for margin fishing but only the older ones as Dave says the newer ones are rubbish :(

for everything else I use Jon Walker Diamonds Image

Main difference between the 2 are if you buy 10 Malman 4x14 Thicko's they would all take different shotting and be all different sizes and shapes
But if you buy 10 JW 0.3g Diamonds they would all be identical in size shape and shotting attention to detail is priceless Image

Probably down to the fact that its now Gaz Malmans main source of income and any short cuts you can take increase your productivity and therefore income. John Walker probably doesnt rely on the profit from his floats and can afford to be more of a perfectionist.

Mainly 3 makes of float in my box. Malmans, Wilkies and various KC patterns. All the KC's are given a couple of coats of 'Hard as Nails' when new as some people have reported them taking on water

I have tried Jon Walkers floats, I brought 3 at Rolf's and smashed all 3 in the course of a single match. :( Just wasn't meant to be I guess. :-/

I have had no problems with shotting on my malmans.
Dont quite agree with you there Si
The line used to cut in to the old floats, the black ones. It does not do it now on the newer versions.

Clive I will have a look at some your your JW floats if you don't mind.

Time to look for something for punch fishing on the cut Image

as long as it takes to get the ones you want out of a box, package them, put them in the post and for post man pat to push them through your door. Id say you should get them with in a few days of them receiving your order
