Cannock Extension Canal
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
Close season now in force because of the canals SSSI status. See you in 3 months time
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
Tight lines to all members as the canal reopens today after its enforced close season
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
After last weeks disappointing match result it was good to hear that a few more fish put in an appearance in damp and difficult gusty conditions today
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
Knock up on the extension today, and another very tough match for most Well done to Chris Furnival on the win with 5-6-4, a nice Tench and a few silvers. He also lost a huge Tench estimated at about 8lb on proper gear 2nd was Clive James with 2-5-0 of silvers and 3rd was Barry Broadhurst with 1-14-6 of silvers.
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
A few reports from members over the last month
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
Following storm Ciaran members fished a 4 hour match in persistent rain on the boatyard section.
All of the cold and dirty water that entered the canal during that stormy week slowed sport down but no dry nets were recorded and a couple of members even had their lines smashed by hard fighting tench or carp.
The result was
Jamie Millward 4lb 4oz 6drm
Neil Lawrence 2lb 13oz 1drm
Carl Nicholls 2lb 5oz 7drm
Pictured is 2nd placed Neil with his catch of predominately small skimmer bream.

Re: Cannock Extension Canal
Received this report today
Alright Tony
I had a day down the extension today and fished the first boat
I only fished caster and really struggled
Vaughn fished the second boat on punch down track and against boat and caught well until boat owners started moving about then couldn't buy a bite after 3 hours
Made me wonder as the boat opposite me was discharge soap
We are going again next week and trying boats further down with no disturbance

Re: Cannock Extension Canal
One of our members had a great day down the cut today
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
He even had to change his landing net for a bigger one during the battle
Re: Cannock Extension Canal
A couple of our members ventured out down the boatyard this morning and had a tug off a couple of Esox Lucius
Both look slightly larger than the one that sat by my keepnet yesterday

Re: Cannock Extension Canal
One of our members popped down the canal to pick up a club card from me yesterday. He was rewarded with another Esox Lucius down the boatyard today from near to where the one was sitting by my keepnet
