CANAL AND TRUST PAIRS COMPETITION
Eleven qualifiers & grand final announced.
The Canal & River Trust and the Angling Trust have announced details of their new 2015 Canal Pairs Championships.
Each of the 11 Canal & River Trust's regions will host a qualifying heat with the top five pairs going through to the 110 peg final. This will be held along the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal on Saturday 24th October.
The dates, venues and host clubs for the qualifiers and the final are listed below:
• Sunday 12th April - Grand Union Canal - Loughborough Soar Angling Society
• Sunday 26th April – Shropshire Union Canal - Hodnet Angling Club
• Sunday 3rd May – Grand Union Canal - Northampton Nene Angling Club
• Sunday 24th May – Kennet & Avon Canal - Devizes Angling Association
• Sunday 21st June – Gloucester & Sharpness Canal – Winget Angling Club
• Saturday 11th July – Aire & Calder Navigation – Boothferry Aire & Calder Joint Canal Committee
• Sunday 26th July – London Waterway – Venue to be confirmed
• Saturday 15th August - Rochdale Canal – Heywood & District
• Saturday 5th September – Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal – Wolverhampton Angling Association
• Sunday 20th September – Beeston Canal – Nottingham Anglers Association
• Sunday 27th September - Leeds & Liverpool Canal – Wigan & District Angling Association
• FINAL Saturday 24th October – Birmingham & Fazeley Canal – Dams & Lock Angling Club
Tickets are priced at £20 per angler (£40 per peg) will go on sale in early February through the Angling Trust. A 50 peg junior canal championship match will be held on the 24th October.
The Canal & River Trust's national fisheries & angling manager, John Ellis, said: ‘It's been a long held ambition to see a major national event of this type launched on the canal network. I feel sure that many club anglers will fancy their chances on qualifying for the final on their own local patch and then who knows what might happen."
Angling Trust senior competitions manager, Ben Thompson, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Canal & River Trust on this competition. Last year's pilot programme on the Shropshire Union Canal went very well and we hope that the introduction of a series of qualifiers followed by a grand final will create opportunities for more anglers to compete in their local area."
Further information will appear both on the Canal & River Trust, and the Angling Trust website in the New Year.

It's not as good venue as maybe 3-4 years ago. The weights might look good in the paper. The roach are that small it's a shame to catch them and pike everywhere. On the plus side it's central and not far to travel. Least the location has been looked at compared to the AT final where there could be some big drives for teams.

Don't really matter still a crap hole alot better venues than that.
CANAL AND TRUST PAIRS COMPETITION
I think the final venue was chosen for its central location ? I also think plenty of canal anglers would agree there are at least 3 or 4 better / fairer venues (canals) in that part of the country

Sven I double checked this earlier and it is true. You don't need to be a member until you qualify for the final.

Preecy i think the loughborough one is sold out but like you've said to who as no one have had there tickets yet ???
As for pegging i've not spoke to Brian yet after a hectic two weeks of big competitions he deserves a rest
I would think it will be Half and half Quorn and loughboroughs water
Quorns water will fish well i've been with my old bait its a fish a throw the roach are active and fish topping .
i think Anglers are booking as they need i know i'm going to fish others but i wanted to get the loughborough one sent off first .
But i'm wondering now if all the entry's are going to be put in a hat and picked out like the fisho
meaning i might not get in

CANAL AND TRUST PAIRS COMPETITION
we have been asked if we are running a practice match before the problem with this is its the Easter weekend is the week before so it will be busy with boats i'd of thought .
CANAL AND TRUST PAIRS COMPETITION
it says ticket allocation is on a first come first served basis and if a venue is full there will be a reserve list,
you would think they would put up a list for each venue
