Just food for thought with the weather beginning to close in and with the wet weather affecting the access for parking in the fields . would we better splitting the winter league into two halfs only when the river is really high yet not unfishable . what i mean by this is some pegs take water and others are washed out like last weekend . Now before you blast this out the water we are now in a position where the 1860 access can't be used which means walking from the road and parking is a issue the top ponds anglers think the first section should come out and whether we can drive across the field will have to be seen .yes the greens will be ok yet both access to the deeps could be too bad to use leaving very little river to put 10 sections on. its too late to peg the other side of the deep which would of been ok and that leaves sutton and kegworth for 90 pegs
so realistically why not half the league into two zones 5 sections on the canal and 5 on the river this would keep most happy and without the worry of getting stuck or a parking space down the lane each teams could nominate 5 river and 5 canal anglers this is only a suggestion for the future and
i'm only interested in constructive criticism as everyone wants a days fishing. last week some anglers were on a good hiding and catch nothing we anglers are a funny bunch and always say things after the event or behind the backs of the one's that should be told .this league is the best in the country and these sort s of decissions should be answered so what do you think . :shifty :shifty :shifty

Not a bad plan mate, if teams come prepared as you say with 5 on the river and the same on the cut, it makes for an equal match for most. Got legs I think

I think it's a great idea Joff... :thumsup

Like you say, when the conditions are looking touch & go like last weekend it gives another option to ensure everyone at least gets a days fishing.
Plus, it might even make it easier to make a decision a little earlier which would save you guys racing round on the morning of the match, plus allow anglers to plan a little - so good all round. :)

You'll always get the moaning gits, all you can ever do is look after the majority who at the end of the day just want to catch a few fish ;)

Thanks lads its just a idea as this weekend is a nightmare for parking as long as we give everyone good notice . last weekend could of gone either way canal or river but from organisers point of view it would take less time to put in place 50/50.
I think it might be a great idea to have a AGM straight the winter league Captains only then another AGM a couple of months before the winter league starts giving us all time to sort sections and pegs out . Plus don't vote for a section unless you are prepared to help clear the pegs . we all love fishing we all want a days fishing well we all should put a little time a side to help . Brain put endless hours into re-pegging sutton chopping pegs out and not forgetting bonsors as did Tony and Adey and then Brian runs the league . These suggestions will only make the league better in the future . We have managed to get 90 anglers back on the bank the number of young anglers has increased its all going in the right direction :thumsup

Think this is a good idea. It could help teams that have a mixture of river and canal anglers.

Ian its only if the river is up where we have to move sections
Greens Deeps and sutton can take extra water 1869 top ponds abbey and kegworth struggle plus the fields for parking get bad
It's only a idea anglers moaned about the pegs last week say they hadn't a chance or were washed out with extra water . these are the same anglers that bang on about everyone wants a days fishing just thought this keeps everyone happy. Only as a last resort though  there's nothing better than all six matches on the river when its right  :thumsup :thumsup

This weekend is a prime example we are putting in the sections that can take the water and access. Last week could of gone either way
