Realising the weekly angling press are going through a tough time of it at the moment well even the national papers are finding dropping sales and what are they doing about it . I still pick up and read both weeklies but so often i here match anglers say they don't buy or look at them anymore .Now surely this is a section of the weeklies that could be addressed the European championship was covered but again by very few plus did many of you know the event was on . I know the England squad wouldn't want to give anything away but a rundown of the venue or even a feature with a well done match angler would of been good before the event . England are now World and European champions in the same year what a achievement that is when you consider how the rest of our England teams have done in other sports this year like Football ,Cricket, Hockey and Now Tennis . Team England are holding not one but two gold medals yet there has been no recognition for this achievement what's so ever. I did my normal thing if we have a great result and this year more so i've Emailed all the TV news decks BBC ITV at local level and even the one show just to see . Well i can tell you i've had no response from any of them not even a reply, to me whatever sport it is if you are world champions at the sport you should be recognised but to be European Champions was well it's beyond belief
We are not going to be world and European champions every year . from what i can see from the photo's the England Squad looked smart and tidy and very professional and these lads are not paid .
I for one would like to see a indepth feature on how the Euro's was won from putting your kit on the peg to G/B mixing rigs pole and baits to weighing in to achieve recongnition for our sport we must go above and beyond
Again this weekend we have one of the biggest finals in TEAM fishing the Angling Trust Winter League Final have you seen it advertised in the weeklies NOT yet done properly like fish-o-mania the press advertises this every week for a winner take all . Its time Angling Angling press and Anglers themselves pulled their socks up this is a chance to put our sport in the eye of the public
The same feature would be good for the winter league final why post 20 peg match results when there are bigger club matches up and down the country week in week out . Less small results more detailed and indepth results are what Anglers want

(No offence to people I am mates with in the angling press ) . I haven't bought an angling weekly or monthly for around 4 years apart from Div 1 national time , reason being they are boring to the extreme as they solely marketed at pleasure and club anglers . All the info you need is on the internet and no need to spend a small fortune on weeklies and monthlies full of adverts , method feeders , stupid dumb carp self hooking methods monkeys could use !!!!!!! Nuff said !!!!!! ::)

Dodge this is exactly what i mean but unless anglers throw these questions to the actual papers themselves nothing will ever be done. This has been going on for years and at every match you fish . i understand the weeklies looking after their bread and butter readers the pleasure anglers. Also not forgetting the Carp anglers which has an impressive coverage .Then you get to the match section quite frankly its puts me off as soon as i see 17,18 and 20 peg match results. i would much rather read a select few match reports and in depth with a few photo's or even 2 river 2 canal 2 commercial or big events. I'm not one for this Glory hunting when you've won 3 matches in a week and your name in the paper then you realize the matches are only16,18 or 20 pegs. Ok yes its great winning but how do you define what winning is[ a part from the obvious your top weight you win] surely winning a 16 to 20 peg match is a nothing to winning a 50 to 60 match but very often they are given the same room in a weekly as would a 100 pegger. angling is one of the sports that has very little input from anglers most plod on and moan yet are never prepared to speak out .
a little while ago match fishing magazine and pole magazine had a little bad press on a website and fairplay to Tom ,Matt and Joe they soon jumped in and quickly answered these anglers by simply saying our numbers and Email address are in every copy of the magazine just send your ideas and gripes to us and we can sort them out. what we don't here about we can't do anything about full stop. Needless to say they have had very few comebacks or Ideas what a fickled lot we are
