Richie, there is no joker in the straem any more the southern semi have raped it. also any week now there going to switch the sewage works to a modern clean one no more joker at all.
regarding bloodworm there are people getting it out of the english ponds such as Alex Powell,
All the captains new the situation and should of got there lads to order it i personally ordered 1 1/2 kilo and tenner of worm £35 of bait. its to late now to change as most teams have done the same, who is going to pay for my bait if it changed and dont need it. things like this should be organised months before not weeks Bob Dyer has given every one plenty of notice to order it so if they carnt organise things there problem.
Most of the anglers commenting on here are not even fishing our semi so should not have a say i dont see anglers in the south moaning they are in the same boat.
Regarding the Shropshire Union Canal there are more fish in that canal and we have had very mild winters over the last few years when was the last time it was frooze would be a different story if they had 8" of ice like 5 years ago when even i could stand on it

Darren, fair comment Mate. I have done the same as You and will look after it, it's just I do not like the feeling of some having it and some not when it comes to the match. If I have to I will get in some where to get some worm but its just hassle I do not need. My honest opinion is the venue if it stays mild will be good without it. At the end of the day I want people coming off the bank who have caught some fish and do not feel they have had their pants down. As for this competition, I do enjoy winter leagues as they are a vehicle to fish larger matches but I think unless things change it will be my last semi. Last years team that won it got a grand, no trophy and little exposure so there is no pot of gold so to speak at the end of this rainbow. The AT winter League Final just aint the same

just ban it so it's a level playing field! Simple. can you really see our team buying bloodworm to keep for 3wks! not a chance.
Shakespeare needn't worry about having an edge over teams without joker, there far too good on canals to get paranoid like that.

As it happens our team have ordered worm.. still feel it would have been fairer for everyone if it was left out this time.
It seems this angling trust winter league causes controversy every year without fail. weather it be venues for semi or the final, I seriously wonder how long it will go on for.
There certainly needs to be more clubs putting there venues forward for starters and a final venue that can be used every year that can absorb the pressure we put on it and suit the time of year.
If a natural water venue it needs to be a big expanse of water like a reservoir or a river.. personally i think a Stillwater would be best.
