Holly's Farm is closer than I thought, it only took 50 mins to get there.
Got there booked in and said ello to some of the MD'ers that were already there, some I knew and some I didn't. Had a double decker sausage butty and a cuppa.
When everyone else got there the draw took place. The team captain's picked a envelope which had 4 pegs in it, peg in each section. We each picked a ticket and opened it. I drew peg 47. Dirk, our captain wanted us to put a quid each in to the winner of our team.
Off we went to get set up, got the gear out my car and went down to my peg over the freshly mowed grass, lovely place.
This was my peg.....
It was 14 meters to the other bank, which is where I had been told to fish. So I set up a far bank line, 10 meter line, margin and shallow rigs.
By the time the all in was called the wind had picked up something awful, I managed to get a few carp from the far bank but the wind became too much so I locked the pole between my legs and settled on the 10 meter line. Bites were far less frequent but I was still catching. The wind was blowing my pole everywhere
After about 3 hours going over to 14 meters when I could and on the 10 meter line I had about 15lb in the net. The margins were dead thanks to a hoard of ducklings diving down and hoovering up all my bait I decided to go shallow on the caster.
I had been putting some casters at 5 meters all match. They were they but not biting properly so I doubled up and the bites were better. I was on white hydro which I thought would be ok for the size of the fish I had been catching. But the bigger fish turned up and I was having to use 4 and 5 sections to land the buggers
Ghosties which did not want to come in, they gave a right good scrap for the size. Just managed to get one last fish when the whistle went.
I weighed in 30lb 8oz but with my team mates weights, was it enough
Was it bol*ocks lol We finished 4th and missed out on 3rd place by 3lb
Our total team weight was 60lb something.
Had a good day out and met alot of the MD's
Matt Nutt (GOT BAITS) was 2 pegs to my left and won the overall match with 60lb
I'm well shag*ed now.......... Oh no another match tomorrow
