I think its a case where anglers are just not fishing the natural venues in the numbers they were. This will be a massive blow and yet another nail in the coffin for natural venue Angling. Only this year Sam stated its hardly worth going over to get B/J as anglers are not fishing the bait enough and maybe we have all learnt to look after the bait better. We could quite easily find yourselves without B/J in the future if we don't support the supplier .
Its alright saying you can buy a sack of pellets and it will last you the whole season that's fine until everyone starts doing it .One of the major reasons for the tackle trades decline is due to this bulk buying of baits. Not so many anglers walking through the doors of tackle shops like they used too . Now we are starting to see a decline in natural baits its a great shame that some of us can't see it because its no good shouting about it after the event . Maggot farms are a dying breed it takes a lot to run a farm and now for little reward
RIP Squatts or save the squatters its only you the angler that can .lucky for us in Leicestershire we can still get them at the moment

A lot of canal matches in Leicestershire are b/j banned. That's another question really.venues without b/j tend to fish very consistent and very even. I've just fished Cov canal winter league with it in and I don't think it helped very much and the weights are down on years gone by. So does b/j kill venues off in time?? Dams and lock not as good as it used to be. Loughborough fished well but that had a lot of rest, yet I saw someone mention you could catch good weights on natural baits.
Yet you go on wreake or Northampton waters and weights are very fair.

Yes Ian natural baits played a big part on the semi but i'd of said it was the time of year and the warmer weather Jan /Feb might of been a different story
You could say none of us are getting any younger so why do we need to fish B/J but this is very dangerous as once its gone i wouldn't of thought it would be back the way they are cleaning up these European Sewage plants

Apparently Ashurt bait suppliers have started growing there own squatts as there supplier just packed in all of a sudden.

This is true Phil. Talk up here in the NW several weeks ago (when the issue of one of the squatt breeders shutting down first came up) was that Ashursts were in the process of building a new fly house just for breeding squatts. No idea what the latest update on that is, but the squatts we are getting up here are bigger than pinkies at the moment bloody big buggers they are...

Plenty to be had round here. Probably due to a thriving canal match circuit. Contact Ian's tackle, see what he would charge for delivery
