Claygate Lake Sophie 17th May 2014
Its still over 3 weeks to go for this one. They have done some work dredging this lake a bit, the fish were removed and have been replaced. I think his original plan was not to restock the F1s but to include more proper carp and silvers.
I haven't got any further info than this so if anyone comes up with anything before the match please post it here. Again this is not going to be a big weight water and doesn't respond to too much pressure. I would suggest it may pay to be a bit cautious in the way you fish it.
Keepnets are supplied one for silvers and one for carp and there is a 70lb net limit. Carp over 10lb and Silvers over 5lb must be weighed and returned immediately.
Right who wants to join in for a hard days fishing.

I'll be there Dave. Jim's away this week so will confirm when he's back.
Bit puzzled by this de-stocking talk. I know 1 or 2 very fancy bream were caught last year - correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the bulk of our weights last year were made up of F1s and/or small carp? Wonder whats left if they've been drastically reduced? :(
Are you still trying to contact them to get a bit more info?

I would normally speak to them in the week before but I think it may warrant a fact finding mission.

As previously mentioned by Dave took myself off to Lake Sophie yesterday for a spot of "fact finding"
According to the bailiff they have deepened the lake and taken out all the F1's and added some "proper carp"
There were a few people fishing and eventually I ended up on Peg 15 - a lot of the farside vegetation has been removed and most if not all of the trees have been cut down to a few feet high and it seemed wider than I remembered from last year.
Down the track it was 8-9ft deep and apparently it goes to 11ft in some places - as I didn't have any rigs made up to that depth I decided to fish top 2 + 1 in the margins either side, the depth here was 4-5ft.
Fed both sides with different sized pellets and after about 10mins float buried and attached to something completely different that didn't want to play nicely - eventually resulting in a very nice mirror of about 10lb.
This pattern continued for most of the day which unfortunately I had to cut short by leaving at 3.30pm, I had caught 13 carp including another two around 10lb and apart from one of about 2lb all the rest were between 5 and 9lb so bring the Rolfs gear chaps, the only "silver" I caught was a tench which was around 5lb.
It has to be said that on the day with more pressure it will probably be completely different and also that I only used pellets and didn't even try corn or meat but I think it will probably be a lot different from last year
