Just a couple of months ago, you may have heard, an absolutely astounding Roach of 2-3-11 was caught by design, from the North Oxford Canal in Coventry, on the float. Captor, George Burton.
Some fish for a narrow canal ... and pushing that record !
Much groundwork has been done by Jeff Hatt after these fish.
Though I dream the dream, haven't got the patience to have a go myself.

Must admit I thought the roach record for the canal might have been more but a two pound roach from anywhere is a lovely fish

That 43 lb carp came from the Lime Kilns area of the Exeter Canal, - it was one of the original stock reputed to be 50 years old.
Several roach of over 2 lb have come out of the Coventry Canal at Nuneaton. I remember one of 2 lb 9 oz odd in a Warwickshire WL.
As for that 86 lb trout I'll knock 80 lb off it if you knock 8 oz off that perch
Perch of 4 lb 2 oz have come off the Shroppie at Norbury.
