sorry been a bit busy
peg 47 enter the chopped worm would it work or not Image Imageover the past couple of days anglers had been saying they had caught the odd fish on worm but it hadn't broken any pots for us English anglers. Mind-you the festival leader was running away with the tittle using it 2 wins and this day turned out to be 2nd for him
everything set up as normal and i was quietly confident about the peg i had predro a few pegs away and Adey the other side
in went the ten balls and this time very little food put in after again talking to anglers the general picture was that the fish didn't come on to the G/B until later in the match and i mean last half a hour Image Image
so feeding maggots past the G/B line seamed to catch you fish early.as normal the wind got up and remained blustery all day so i opted to fish the bomb from the start at 14 metres with floating maggots as the two previous days i watch anglers around me catch straight a way some on the bomb and some on the pole :D :D :D and when they are 3 to 4lb fish you don't need to loose ground early on plenty of liners but no proper bites .The problem is your mind starts to work overtime are the fish up in the water are you using the right hook bait or even the right size hook :D :D :D :D four hours is'nt a long time sort it out top 5 deep 30 metres wide how hard is it to catch a bream Image Image ImageAdey had stormed in front and pedro had his net out it was looking bad Image after about a hour or 40 minutes i picked the pole up and straight away fouled hooked a bream lost that one this happened three more times Image Image other years you could get the foul hookers out Image Imagenot this year for some reason i'd stopped loose feeding and changed to sticky mag and this worked a treat i finally caught a bream in the mouth Image Image Image Image
by the end of the match i think i'd had eight a couple of them would be around the pound mark which is good to see but not good in the net
as the scales came down it turned out we had drawn the wrong end of the section as the higher numbers had fish better [hows your luck Image]i weighed just short of 12kg [11kg 850g] good for the area on the day and managed 5th in the section only to look at the board and see a 24kg that won the match and then 12kg 100g 12kg 200g and 12kg 300g Image Image Image Imagetwo points would of put back on track for a top ten Image Image Image

the last day of the festival after the day before i felt as though things were finally coming together  ::) ::)a little late i know but it was  the same as last year .!!must try harder!!  Image Image Image
With all the G/B mixed and the normal gallon of tea drunk it was off to draw and a beer  Image Imageplus the endless banter between all the lads  ;) ;) ;)
Bicko had all his routine whether it included the bird sh#t this year i don't know but it included drawing behind the same person everyday standing back and fiddling with the staple on the draw card then looking at with pegs that the names hadn't been filled in on the boards and then guessing where he wanted to be and to be fair he wasn't very fare away on any of the day's Image  Image Image Imagespooky
the festival looked quite impressive at the top of the leader board with some new faces amongst the regular one's in the top ten and especially this year with it being so up and down.
well i drew and the only thing i changed was my drawing arm from right to left  Image Image Image and the peg didn't mean beans to me just that i was end but two in the match 108  :-? :-? :-? :-?the day before a 24 kg came from peg 109 so again there were a lot of fish in the area but saying that the whole canal had fish right the way through just wouldn't feed like other years after the winter weather.
as i filled my name in i could believe it Pete, Adey, Mark and myself had all drawn the same section and to cap it all ADZEE who was on fire and in with a real chance of winning the festival had drawn between myself and Pete  Image Image Image Imagewell being a southerner you can imagine the banter as soon as he pulled up  Image Imageif i remember correct it went something like" You Leicester wan#ers are having it big time today "  Image Image Image Image Imagelucky for Adey he didn't have to hear it all being on the end peg and next to Adey was his twin brother !! mini me the Belgium assassin !!so it was game on  Image Image
this time i had set up my feeder rod and taken my full half kg of worms which included my red worms that i hadn't had a bite on all week  Image Image 1 bomb rod and two pole rigs
Adzee had set up in 15 minutes and oozed confidence i was fearing the worst  and the more he gave the banter out the more he had back and just before the start i replied you should take the pi#s out of a injured tiger these famous words would haunt Adzee for the rest of the day  Image Imagebut not before he took the lead well in fact yet again i was the last to catch  Image Image Imagei watched everyone catch at least one bream before i picked up my feeder rod.Mark had phoned up he was catching Pete was catching and Adey was the on the pole but not big fish
i watched where they were casting around me and opted to go that little bit further but not quite as far as the far bank but three quarters and i had the line to myself  Image Image at first liners but once they had there heads down it was short bursts of bream 3s 4s and at the end 5 in a row both nets were used for the first time this year and a total of 16 bream graced the net and at long last a section win or could it frame as they went just over 24kg but the funny thing was our lads were 1,2,3 and 4th in the section i only just beat Mark who had 23kg  Image Image
still poor Adzee had taken a right beating as Pete the other side had beaten him with 17kg
the neck brace was well and truely ordered for next year  Image Image Image Image Image
but what a laugh with all the work commitments i have on at the minute that day i was so glad i said yes to this years trip its just a great festival we all helped weighing in throughout the week never stopping to get one up one another  Image Image Image
well it had to come to a end and the party after the presentation happened to be back at our place  Image Image Image

      Image

adzee still in shock Image Image IN THE BACK GROUND PEDRO BOWING DOWN TO BICKO'S out standing performances over the two weeks
