We have all spoken about great players of the past and there is certainly no harm in a bit of nostalgia in football (and fishing for that).

At the end of the day we all have to look to the future but what has gone is the history of the sports.

Michael Owen, was one of the top strikers England has ever had. To score as many goals as he did for England, during his time makes him a true 'great'. Who could ever forget his brilliant hat trick when England stuffed Germany.

Least we forget Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

good point bill we forget so easily about his record for England with all the injuries he's had he is still England's third highest scorer Image
i real shame that these injuries kept recurring as i'm sure he would of been the highest goal score
and the headlines today will lampard get his 100th cap :-/ :-/

Yeah , he was amazing for Stoke City Image Image Image Image Image Image :D

On a seriuos note ..... players rarely regain their form or fitness when they suffer the type of injury Micheal Owen suffered and highlights how short a professional football career can be !
I think Owen will become a top horse racing trainer in the not too distant future as he is heavily involved in that game already ;) Image

I think they deffo lose that 'edge'. You can always tell when it happens to a striker, especially one like Michael Owen, they start getting caught offside all the time as they are now trying to steal a yard that they didn't used to need.
Another player who could have been something special too, but had several career threatening injuries, Wes Brown. What a player he was before all his injuries!

Ooh, I'd forgotten about that! Raffles, the gentleman thug, springs to mind.
