It's closed for 6 weeks me. I assume it's something to do with work to be carried out on the new York bridge but I may be wrong. I wouldn't think it would take 6 weeks to re surface the road.

I think you're right Bill. It's the logical place to to put the planks in the cut, where it narrows for a bridge, if you wanted to drain either side.

Maybe narrowboats carried milk churns or farm produce in the past ? If they did, I assume the farmer would leave his produce there to be picked up by the next boat. Or maybe i'm talking through my wobbly cheeks.

I haven't been fishing very much after a long lay off and I must admit, I had intended to but haven't got round to joining. I've been on a couple of Commercials since I started again and this isn't the type of fishing I enjoy so this has made my mind up not to join.
