New partner sought for flagship match fishing event.
One of the UK’s most prestigious match fishing events, the UK Angling Championship is seeking a new flagship sponsor, to ensure that the event is televised once again.

For the past five years, the event has been sponsored by top tackle company Preston Innovations, but they have told the organisers that they won’t be supporting the competition this year.

The events media director, Rob Hughes said: “We would like to extend a big thank you to Preston Innovations, for their support over the last few years. They have played a key part in establishing the UK Championships as one of the most coveted events in British match fishing – thanks in no small part to the Sky Sports TV Coverage that their backing has helped us to secure.

The good news for other interested parties, is that there is now a very unique opening for a tackle company to take on the role of headline sponsor. Not only would this be a great marketing opportunity for them, it would also help to ensure that the event is televised once again. I am very hopeful that a new partner can be found over coming weeks.”

For more information, interested parties should contact Rob Hughes on: 07939 277801.

Not sure if this will be taken up perhaps if natural waters came into it a little more it might bring in a few sponsors :-/

Match series to air on Sky once again.
Chinese bait giant, Old Ghost have signed a three year deal to sponsor the UK Angling Championship, meaning the event will air on Sky Sports once again. The event, which has been backed by Preston Innovations for the last four years, is regarded as one of the UK’s most prestigious match fishing events.

The event organiser, Nigel Harrhy commented: “This is a premier match fishing event, that carries a great deal of prestige. I think it is very important, both for the anglers taking part, and for the profile of match fishing as a whole, that the event is aired on Sky Sports.

“We are very excited to welcome on board our new sponsor, Old Ghost. Their pledged support means that once again our series will feature on TV, with the £6,000 per year pot that they have committed going towards the costs of televising the event.”

The eighty angler event gets underway next Thursday at Viaduct Fishery in Somerset, with subsequent rounds at Maver Larford Lakes, Garbolino Lindholme Lakes, and Barston Lakes.

Old Ghost’s Marketing & Media Manager, John Watson, commented: “We are thoroughly delighted to be involved in what is a very historic, and prestigious competition, that rewards consistent and adaptable angling. With our support pledged for the next three year, we hope that the event will continue to grow and flourish.”
