BDM arrived at the canal a little later than anticipated due to Hotlips having to return home to pick up his mobbie, but was chuffed to see decent turnout of about 20 – that despite HaHa’s alternative boycott match. >:(
The atmosphere seemed to be buzzing? Jumping out of the car, the reason became evident. Cotti had been down the day before and reported the adjoining section had fished its head off
‘Clonking roach on the red mag’ was the method. Shame – BDM hadn’t got any being armed with the lickie, and ¼ each off squatt, disco pinkie and caster.
A walk down to meet KOD who was pegging out. Looked a decent bit of colour in, but started dropping out a little after what would be peg 10.
With 23 pegs in, but KOD had left out peg 19 because a load of sedges had been cut down and the remnant were floating about, BDM announced he wanted pegs 1-10, secretly wanting 5-10. In he dipped and pulled out 18………further than he wanted to walk.
Budgie along as a guest, and looking to hone his cut skills, pulled out a low number and was aghast to learn he was pegged next to non other than the Warburton King. Drynet had even less of a walk pulling out 1.
Getting to peg 18 it daint look too bad. Now what did the Chockie Munster once say – the wall on the bend was good or was it crap?
Only problem after 10 mins of setting up, the wind direction changed and that floating sedge bed to the left looked like it was starting to move………..in the wrong direction
The off – some lickie fed at 4.5 mtrs down inside shelf and across at 11 mtrs at 10 oclock. 11 and 12 mtr lines straight in front saw a few squatt and caster.
A look on the longer punch line. The float – a Paulo 4x10 seed pattern to 0.008 straight through 1.8 dips and first small roach of the day is in the net. Next look – same again, only small fish, but they all count.
Working across the two punch lines a few roach are wheedled out, whilst nowt shows on the squatt lines.
Time is running out as an hour into the match the sedge bed reaches BDM.
Roach are picked off sporadically through gaps in the bed as it floats back and forth, but fatty Kendall on a walk down witnesses BDM lose a few as they come off the hook snagged in the sedges.
(Look carefully - there's one on :D)
A shout from Phil B and he’s by Rolly whose playing a beastie.Camera time. But by the time BDM gets down to peg 21, the beastie ghas seen Rolly off. A gaze to the left and Yamo is clicked netting a tench – ‘That’s’ no 2 he’s had’ Phil B informs BDM.
Back fishing, BDM is struggling to get a put in. Oh well, it’s a nice day.
Looks like ME has been decorating in the vicinity as theres a door in my peg too
A splash to the right this time and MGB is playing something decent. ‘Tench?’ ‘No’ replies MBG, a bl**dy pike on the sweetcorn’.
Half hour to go for BDM, and another look on the caster straight over and it buries straight away. A decent fish tests the no4 latex and is played around the floating bed for about 10 mins. BDM manages to lift its head one but is lost on a final run into a snag on the right.
Trashed rig. Another caster on a different rig lowered over the long punch line this time and it buries straight away again. Slowly does it, then all is solid in the track. A load of manky weed is all that is retrieved. Sh*t, 6lb off the hook in two put ins.
That’s about the last of the action for BDM and the whistle soon follows.
There’s other tales of woe. Whilst Yamos walked it off end peg 23, he's also lost a couple. Gez has been smashed up too. Brambles managed to land a 9lb plus beastie on his last outing, but has had his hook straightened today by a submarine.
Well not a bad day…………..no drynets…………..and everyone’s had a tug or two although the weights aint massive
1st Yamo 9 – 4 0
2nd Rolly 3 – 14 – 15
3rd BDM 2 – 9 – 14
4th KOD 2- 2- 15
