Are you ready for the new campaign ahead of us?

Personally I have only just started getting back into fishing after a couple of months off. Needed it to recharge the batteries and save a few pennies for Mick.

What have you guys been upto?

Simon and Graham have been quiet on the Piking front?
Kev and Dave have not mentioned their holidays to far flung beaches.
Did Clive fish another Rolf's winter league?

Would have gone piking a couple of weekends ago when we had some decent weather but didn't because my local fishmonger had run out of smelts which is, apparently, a killer bait on the lake I was going to fish.

Other than that I spent a few hours over at Mill Barn just before Christmas and must have done over 30lb in silvers. Amongst them were some corking perch and roach. Makes a change from carp bashing - but they weren't feeding anyway!

How about anyone else or are you all fair weather anglers? (Marsh Christmas match participants excluded!)

Im afraid Kevin is unlikely to reply as he is too busy getting ready for his next cruise in March (or is it June or even December or maybe all 3 ).

I haven't had a holiday for over 3 years now Image Image. Still I have booked to spend our wedding anniversary, 3 nights in Edinburgh seeing the Military Tattoo, staying in a very very posh hotel, and Im even taking Gladys with me Image Image

As for the fishing gear apart from taking it out for some fresh air in the xmas match it hasn't been looked at since October.

Alas a mix of bad weather and other stuff has meant the pike rods are where they started the winter..buried in the garage.....I hope to get out before mid March but we shall see.....

As for the other gear, I must start to sort it all out......a serious question...considering trying some puller kits on some top kits.....what's the general views on these ? :)

Keith any news on a date for Alders.

I did try to get in touch with Trevor and left a message but got no response. Im struggling using the phone at the mo due to ear problems.

I have free dates available for Alders for 13th September ( best date ) or 9th August or or even 2nd August at a push. Any chance you could have a word with Trevor please Keith or Mick?

Since when was I organising Alders. It would have been done by now if I was. It is the first time anyone has given me any dates to work on.

I will ring him tomorrow and try to get a date. What lake do you want?

Spoke to Trevor and he can do the 2nd August but on the "silver lake". Only other Saturdays he has available are 26th July or Aug 23.

This needs to be confirmed. Let me know as soon as possible. I have phoned Dave's mobile but no answer.

The silver lake is full of carp. The fish here average 4lb and you can get a big weight quickly, if you can get them going. Average winning weights for that time of year would be 250-300lb with plenty of tons as back up weights.

Sorry Keith I didn't see your post earlier.
The July date clashes with the MDs Rolfs weekend and Aug 23rd is the week before Colemans so neither date is good. Im happy to fish the silvers lake on 2nd August if the access is OK for us invalids. It will be something different so could you please confirm that date for us Keith.

Always best to try to contact me on the home phone and I have just got myself a new number for the mobile 07901598098. Still it wouldn't have made any difference as I cant hear the phone ring until my hearing is sorted out ( Hopefully late tomorrow )

I presume he will want a £50 deposit again if so let me know.

I have spoken to Trevor today and all is booked for Aug 2nd pending a deposit to be paid.

He is aware of the need for assistance in getting anglers and there gear to their pegs.

I have told him also that breakfasts will be required but numbers to be decided nearer the time.

New left knee on Thursday people so may have to miss the first match , good result Keith the other day, what is 'glugged corn'

The "Glug" is a prototype product that the lads at GOT Baits are working on. I fish it in conjunction with corn but pellets work just as good.

Not quite finished yet but certainly does no harm to try it now and again.

You will need to give the new knee plenty of exercise so what better than a day out in the countryside.
You can have a short walk peg and Im sure the younger element will carry your gear to your peg. Even if you cant fish a day sat behind Simon taking the pee is preferable to sitting at home.
