!st Andy Scott 5lb 13,1/2 oz
2nd Graham Cripsey 5lb 4oz
3rd Ian Brodie 5lb 2,1/2 oz

A sharp overnight frost kept the weights down-with the top 3 weights coming from pegs 1,2 and 3. with everyone else really struggling, with only pegs 1--8 having anything to bring to the scales.
the match was fished in the middle of the platformed section from permanent peg 23 upwards towards Crows Bridge.

Still all on the punch Daskin ?
And yes TK I`m still exclusively on punch ( I never use anything else)
The others use various baits, Punch Pinkie, big maggot etc. and oftens a combinaton during the match
I had an ideal peg for me today, but I`m no longer as fast as I used to be--15 years ago I would have P****d the match. I missed a lot of bites today as well, had me pulling my hair out at times.

Hi Daskin - well done on another brown envelope, you were obviously having a slightly better stamp of fish to the winner - if my calculations are correct, another 5 and you'd have just edged it......
but I`m no longer as fast as I used to be-
Know the feeling, comes to us all

Sunday 19th January
1st Bob Smith 17lb 1/2oz 370 fish
2nd Danny West 14lb 14oz 315 fish
3rd Derek Skinner 12lb 7.1/2 oz 230 fish
4th Alec Rawlings 12lb 3.1/2oz
5th Andy Scott 11lb 2oz
6th Pete Harker 9lb 14oz
The river was carrying a few inches of extra water and was expected to run off hard, but didnt, despite the tide being right for it to run. In the last couple of matches the top weights have come from the low numbers but the high numbers came up trumps this week.

I wasnt able to fish the match on Jan 26th.
The river was high and carrying a lot of colour and with strong winds and persistant rain, I wasnt too upset to miss it
It was won By Bob Smith with 3lb 8oz, 2nd 2lb 8oz -3rd 1lb 12oz.
Result for Feb 2nd
1st Ian Boden 7lb 12oz
2nd Bob Smith 6lb 11oz
3rd Derek Skinner 3lb 12oz
4th Andy Scott 3lb 8oz
5th Alec Rawlings 3lb 6oz
The river looked to be in good condition and ran at a decent pace after the first hour, but for some reason the fish were reluctant to feed, the top 3 weights came from pegs 3, 4 and 5, with the pole outscoring the whip on the day.

Result Feb 9th
1st Derek Skinner 4lb 7oz + Gold peg
2nd Ian Boden 3lb 6.5oz
3rd Ian Brodie 3lb 5oz
4th = Steve Miles
Graham Cripsey 3lb 1.5oz
6th Alec Rawlings 2lb 13oz
Even though the river looked in good condition --it fished pretty badly, Very strong winds made it very difficult to fish whatever method used.
Cormorants have been seen on the river over the last couple of weeks--so all are hoping that the fish have probably moved from the match stretch because of this and that the b******** have not ruined another good venue.

Result Feb 16th
1st Peg 1--Danny Hurst 6lb 4oz ( 50 Roach)
2nd Peg 7--Alec Rawlings 4lb 7oz (2x 2lb Bream + 3 Roach)
3rd Peg 3--Andy Scott 3lb 2oz (23 Roach)
4th Peg 2--Derek Skinner 1lb 15oz (15 Roach)
5th Peg 4--Bob Smith 1lb 10oz ( 14 Roach)
6th Peg 6--Steve Miles 1lb 5oz.
The match length has declined badly the last couple of weeks --with the hoards of small fish appearing to have moved out, with just odd pockets of a few 2oz+ Roach in the low numbers.
The town stretch seems to be the only place where decent weights can be taken--but there is not enough accessable pegs to run a decent sized match, on that stretch.
The organiser is looking at maybe a different venue for next weeks match.
Draw same time and place.

The match length fished terrible On Sunday 23rd Feb.
1st Alec Rawlings 2lb
2nd Graham Cripsey 1lb 8oz
3rd Richard Kinning 1lb 5oz
4th Andy Scott 1lb 4oz
The few fish that were caught were all a decent stamp of fish.
4 anglers went down on the Friday to try the match length, after the previous weeks poor showing - equally spaced along the length --all had over 5lbs of fish, in around 3 hrs--but come Sunday its was as if the river was almost barren, with all but a few anglers having anything to show-
plus a very strong wind that made some pegs almost unfishable.
I went down there yesterday on the spur of the moment and fished one of the early peg numbers that were used in the match and had some quality Roach--ending up with 105 fish for 16lb 8oz.
The water conditions have not changed for a couple weeks now, but the fish seem to go out for the day on a Sunday.

Sunday March 2nd
1st Michael Bond 12lb 6oz
2nd Denis Houghton 10lb 15oz
3rd Bob Smith 10lb 5oz
4th Brain Blackmore 10lb 3oz
5th Alec Rawlings 10lb 2oz
6th = Danny West
Pete Harker 10lb 1oz
This weeks match was moved to a different stretch thats has been fishing well, but there was too many anlgers for the section and two pegs had to be put in a section further downstream and unfortunately these 2 pegs got the full force of the wind and fished very badly--(guess where I drew) on the good section the lowest weight was 7lb.
I was really p****** off as I had won the previous 3 matches that had been fished on the good section. but didnt have a hope in hell of matching the other guys from where I was.

March 14th result
1st Derek Skinner 6lb 15oz
2nd Pete Harker 6lb 11oz
3rd Brian Blackamore 5lb 15oz
4th Don Green 5lb 12oz
5th Ian Brodie 5lb
The match was fished on the same pegs as thursday, but it didnt fish as well--with even less of the better fish putting in an appearance. all catches were made up of very small Roach, with anything over an ounce being a bonus.
It has not been a bad winter on the venue with very few poor matches-- and we managed to run a match every week with none being cancelled due to the weather or the river being unfishable.
Roll on the end of October.
