West Auckland club has just held the December match on a river 50kms from Auckland. This is a match of 2 halves. At midday we stop for 30 mins and meet half way for food and drink provided by the club and a chat or lies about how many each has in the net.As usual for the time of year its warm[25/30c] and the river was a little low but with a top weight of 67lb it fished well for some. The fish we were catching were mainly koi carp/rudd/bull head cat fish/gold fish and eels. From the NZ anglers a merry christmas and full nets in the new year.

Thanks for that Kiwi
As you can imagine, it's a bit different here in Blighty. Just read the latest couple of Cashmores grueller reports and it should make you feel even better mate.
Tight lines to all you fishermen on the other side of the planet. Hope you all have a great festive period and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

I won this one :)I follow the UK weather and watch the fishing on a site that has a cam on their lakes. At this time of year sun burn is the problem! As for the wine,we supply beer at 1/2 time but everyone has to be careful as traffic police are enforcing the drink drive laws over xmas with no tolerance.Match fishing is alive and well here and we have a series against Australia in February.

Hiya Kiwi.
Glad to hear match fishing is on course in NZ.
You might be getting sunburn but over here I am suffering from 'rust'!
Go and give them Ozzies what for after stuffing us at cricket.
Nice to read posts from other countries.
Best of luck

Yes the koi have a fantastic range of colours. We don't get the really big carp(25lb is the biggest rod caught)plenty of bust offs on fish we never see. These are all wild fish and very powerful. One reported fish shot by a farmer in a flooded field was 65lb. We have Rudd to 3lb tench to 9lb perch to 8lb eels to 30lb golden carp to 4lb grass carp and bullhead catfish. So if anyone comes this way we can always find some tackle for them to have a fish. And fishing is free you only need a licence.

Why would a farmer shoot a fish ? Was it chasing the sheep
So if anyone comes this way we can always find some tackle for them to have a fish. And fishing is free you only need a licence.
That sounds very tempting
