Bait-Tech Backs Riverfest
Bait-Tech RiverFest 2013 grand final
pleased to announce that it has received generous backing from leading bait company Bait-Tech for all the 60 finalists taking part in this years RiverFest 2013 final. The two day event takes place on the River Wye at Hereford over the weekend of 16th and 17th November with a prize pot of £24,000 up for grabs!
The bait sponsorship, which amounts to nearly £2,000 includes Bait-Tech's new Pro Natural groundbait as well as a variety of Halibut feed and hook pellets, Halibut Marine Method Mix groundbait, tins of Superseed hemp and assorted Hybrid barbel hookbaits.
Bait-Tech's Sales and Marketing Manager Andy Neal said: "We are delighted and proud to be associated with this fantastic competition which has captured the imagination of river anglers from all over the country. It promises to be a great final and it's going to very difficult to predict a winner. Not only does the venue hold a massive amount of silver fish, there are also big shoals of barbel and chub to go for and with the competition being decided on weight over two days, the finalists will certainly need to be well prepared. Our baits are already tried, tested and proven on the venue so we hope they will help all the finalists and one in particular to pick up the £10,000 winners cheque!"
Ben Thompson, Senior Talent Development & Competitions Manager, Angling Trust stated “It is fantastic to see Bait-Tech supporting our anglers in this new competition. The response from the angling community has been phenomenal, and we are really excited about the final and the opportunity to see some of our top river anglers competing for this prestigious new trophy and huge prize pot. This announcement will enhance the competition and help establish Angling Trust RiverFest as the premier river competition in the country and the Angling Trust are grateful to Bait-Tech for their support.”

Angling Trust RiverFest 2013
Day Two and final result
Today has been an incredible match of twists and turns and a fitting end to the two day RiverFest 2013 final.
Match winner on the day was Scott Geens at peg 96 with 30.10.0 of mainly roach on a bolo and maggot approach.
Second was Simon Deakin with 27.10.0 of barbel from peg 41. Third was John Urruty with 26.8.0 of barbel from peg 39 and fourth was Chris Parr with 22.9.0.
Best fish prize went to John Urruty with a 7-9-0 barbel.
In the overall stakes, pre competition favourite Andrew 'Spud' Murphy came out on top with 44.9.0 but it wasn't all plain sailing as he had to draw upon every last bit of his river knowledge to keep fish feeding at peg 93. The victory won him the £10,000 top prize and a superb Angling Trust trophy. It was a deserved victory by a class angler who proved his pedigree on both days.
Incredibly, there was a tie between three people for second place! Paul Bick, Michael Dalziel and Chris Parr all with 41-1-0. All three picked up £3,333.33!
John Urruty came in fifth and took the £1,000 prize with 40-14-0 and sixth place (£700) was claimed by Scott Geens with a two day total of 39-6-0.
I'll post some more facts and figures tomorrow but for now I need a few beers down at Forest View Guest House in Symonds Yat and a night to reflect on what has been a wonderful two days.
I felt quite emotional after the presentation tonight and proud of what we have created. RiverFest 2013 has been a great competition and I'm already looking forward to RiverFest 2014.
Footnote - there is a RiverFest God after all...after the draw I decided to have a bet on Scott Geens on peg 96. He won the match...and won me £780. Yay!

The event was a great success. I spent all weekend there and it was buzzing with excitement all of us madly up for it. After all when do we ever get the chance to fish for 10k in a fishing match. Ive never seen so many anglers retire from the pub so early on the friday night, including me
.
The first day i had a good match finishing 5th with 26lbs of mainly Roach. I did not sleep to well on the night. The thought of one more good peg was all i need for a big cheque kept me awake. Sadly i had a bad peg the next day and the dream was over.
I stopped for the presentation picked up my £175 section prize and congratulated the winners. The place was buzzing! I get the feeling the bookie when home with a sore bottom i think he need to learn were the good pegs are???
