Soar valley winter league result 4nd round
well tares is a very under rated bait nowadays we fished a section that has not been used in matches for years its just down the road plus
i have the gate key and can use it whenever i like
although the farmer does allow boats to moor this is often good because the black death birds dont seem to settle the section is feed by a treatment centre so fish do seem to live there and if the river is right Bream feed in numbers
its slightly deeper than other sections 7 to 8 foot but still very low and clear .The whole idea of going down yesterday is i keep reading about tares which i think is a forgotten bait i know choppy wouldn't go fishing without a bag of them so i wanted to give it a go just hemp and tares
i've tried giant hemp on the hook but i always revert back to smaller seed i potted a 250ml pot of hemp in at the start as i was helping young josh from the village who is always in and out the shop wanting to go fishing just happens hes off work at the minute with flu
![Image](http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/images/converted_files/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/whistle.gif)
josh would fish G/B and pinkies at 11 mtrs and before long he was catching fish hybrids, roach and perch
as i sat down on my own box i looked at the two rigs i'd set up one was strung out and the other was bulk as i'm always curious with hemp fishing which is the best way of fishing the bait i've spent endless hours watching the likes of Tony marshall and Dave petch both fish the bait completely different Tony is a wizard at very light strung out rigs and Dave likes the bulk approach both have a very good success rate in matches on the soar
The first cast with strung out rig resulted in a roach
it looked like being a good session again lifting the bait [hemp for a start] and the laggie pulled out another roach and this was it for the next 30 minutes i then started to introduce Tares 4 or 5 at the start sometimes more as i think varying the amount of loose feed can kick start other fish to compete [ :-/might be wrong but it has worked for me in the past]
anyway i slipped a tares on which i find a lot easier then hemp it sat on the hook in a jiffy shipped out yes a bite or two then a fish which made me wonder was the bait too big or was it the rig so again i tried a Tares again this time a small one i still thought something wasn't right yet still caught a small roach
i was sure the presentation wasn't right or not the best
so i picked up the bulk rig lowered this rig in as iwould any other rig and within seconds i had a roach making its way to the net this seemed to be a turning point as i was soon catching one every put in no missed bites no need to check the bait this was positive as you could get
;)and by the end of our three hour session josh had learn't loads and caught loads great fishing and a great afternoon
so i was wondering which is your best way and method of fishing hemp canal or river are you a potter or a loose feeder airy fairy rigs or a bulker

Soar valley winter league result 4nd round
2ND ROUND results
its starting to turnout one of the best leagues so far the conditions had changed come the morning after overnight rain had put 4 inches on the river plus it kept coming up during the match .the bigger fish started to feed and surprised most of the anglers fishing .River ace Tony marshall of Quorn AS/ Shakespeare loves these conditions and read it like a book.pegged on the first peg below the bridge at Barrow on the cobbles Tony fished pole feeder at 6 metres to catch a steady run of bream for 12kg 120g for first place 2nd Nigel Truman Matchmans supplies again Nigel found a few bream and skimmers from the greens section for a total of 7 kg 490g. 3rd spot was Malc Mott Loughborough Malc couldn't remember how many bream he had caught ::) at the weigh in but it was enough win the section and 3rd in the match with 6kg650g.4th Roger Marlow Sensas/Drennan Roger pegged at Zouch and for much of the day caught skimmers and the odd better fish for 6kg 320g 5th Colin Beech 5kg 300g and a surprise for Pete Jayes Wigston AS Pete managed a Carp of around 7lb plus other fish for 6th with a weight of 5kg 080g
Well it couldn't be tighter on the Team front with Quorn AS dominating the 2nd round with a point total of just 23 pts 2.3 points per angler
