We all have our favourite floats and now with with hand crafted varieties filling the market where does this leave the traditional shop brought floats i remember years ago Wil Raisin telling a group of lads get the right pattern and stick with it .I've done just that for many years and feel i'm in touch with the patterns i use, i look pick and use the JEAN FRANCOIS on most venues i fish its a hard float to shot up yet you can read the slightest of touches which immediately register on the fibre tips. Over the years the diameter of the wire has changed and now the new tips are very visible its been around for years with the rugby ball body being is classic style and most floats marketed around this design
i wondered whats your favour floats why are most carp floats Diamond shaped ,Pencil floats gimmick or not it will be interesting to here your thoughts on floats .
do you buy your floats in ones or by the dozen

Can only say my favourites for canals:
Image Brio
Image Apollo
Mick Bassett London Squatt
Dufil Aire
Drennan Wire
Drennan Seed
You can probably only get the London Squatt these days - all the others are ancient. I make my own these days, which are similar, but not identical to several of the list above. That said, I always have a few Brios and Apollos made up and use them all the time...

Drennan onions.. dogs doodahs for slider fishing for roach!
Cant get em anymore an i bust one on the weaver on wed
Drennan tipo's for baggin on venues like reservoirs where the light can change a lot as these floats come with 3 interchangeable tip colours.. brill on slow flowing rivers too.
Senas henri's for positive squatt/B/joker.
Duffil's for delicate squatt/B/joker fishing.
Any pellet fishing preston chianti's are the biz only trouble is the strength of em,therefore i have handmade versions made for me now by 'Skimmerz' off this site which are awesome.

Never had a problem with Chanti, had one eye pull but never had one take on water? Every box round here is full of them and very highly rated for many venues this way on. The original colour and make of float were the best ( still have a dozen or so that must be 15yr old ) but as Joff said the did change when they went purple and black, for some reason they just wasn't quite the same but still a good float IMO
