Alan Stephens

Steve Ashmore has won the opening match of the season on the Warwickshire Avon at Evesham, with an 11lb 12oz net. The W B Clarke backed rod caught a 5lb bream, a 5lb tench and a handful of small perch and silver bream on short pole, chopped worm tactics.
Howard Kaye was runner up from the noted peg 35 on the mouth of the River Isbourne. Howard fished waggler with maggots, taking an impressive net of small chublets.
Evesham stalwart Paul Glenfield took third place from peg 26. The Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths ace caught a couple of 1lb chub, and a succession of chublets on stick float tactics with maggots from peg 26.
Although it was a tough match for many, as usual the length provided varied fishing, with chub, roach, barbel, bream , tench, perch and bleak all banked by competitors on the day. The recent dredging work that has been carried out on the river was also hailed a great success – with anglers reporting far fewer snags, making for a more enjoyable days fishing.

well done choppy Image

Cheers Joff,
Very hard yesterday, but then again it's hard for everyone. The venue looks a month behind, not many small fish feeding at present.
