Quick question as I know some of you rate Sensas gear highly (and might even have one of these). The sensas 874 pole, whats it like? I have read various things about it ranging from its great to its crap (poles are like cars). Whats it like beyond 13meters? I read some odd stuff about it not actually being 13 meters and needing the dolly butt to get it there. The same with getting to 16 meters. Any honest info on this pole would be great.

olly like you said poles are like cars, yes the sensas pole package is great Ive used the 774 for 5 years now and i'm thinking of up grading to the 874 not that mine is worn out its just a me thing ::) for me the package you get with your sensas pole is second to none and the half sections are so handy i use my short 6/7 most of the time it makes the pole a little stiffer and the 13metre dolly butt is great under your arm as there is no way you are going to crush even if you trap it between your legs also the brushes and winders fit correctly for what ever laggie you use they now do bushes for the number two section with smaller holes in the bush so you can even use light laggies
but perhaps the most important part is if !!! i mean if !!you break a section they are easily to get hold of and won't cost the earth so you can fish confidently without thinking about the costs all the time and this makes hell of a lot of differents to your fishing Image Image

Hi Olly,

Had an 874 for 12 months, had no problems accept breaking a section I had dinked on a post, ime is up for sale at £1300 at moment, 12 months old. The only reason I am selling is because I work in a tackle shop and am trying to swap pole every year. If I don't sell it I am quite happy to stick with it till it wears out.

The pole does need the dolly to get to 13m, most poles are 12.4m at that length but as the limit is 13m abroad the dolly makes it that length

Who told you what it was like at 16m?? You wont hold 10 ya big puff!! Did you do any good yesterday??

I have the 854, not the best 16m pole on the market but at the price you can get one and the spares package, I dont think you will get a better pole ( IMO ) at 13m its as good as any other pole. Used it fishing 16 with dolly for silvers, still responsive, but most of my fishing is for carp and never had a problem so far Image

Cheers for the reply's! This all came about because I decided it was time to change my pole. I cant really afford a new flagship pole so decided to look at 2nd hand instead. Initially I had decided to sit it out and wait for a tourney pro to show up at the right money, simply because spares are widely available and due to the fact they have stood the test of time. However after seeing a few other poles like the Middy XK55 and the 874 (one on TA atm) going for the right sort of money I had my head turned a bit.

The Middy seems to get great reviews. The worry I have is will spares be available down the line? Theres not many of them in circulation so if in 3 or 4 years time I have worn the 6 out on one will I be able to get a replacement easily?

Then I saw the 874 up for sale. Initially it was for sale with a 724 and a 024 margin pole. This got the grey matter going because with all 3 of those poles being interchangeable you got a lot of kit for your money, add to that the fact I already have a 024 which I use as my down the edge beating stick I decided to go away and try and find out more about the 874. Going back to my comment about cars up top, it seems some people love it and some people disliked it. The configuration up to 13 meters with the pole being 12.4 and then the dolly taking it to 13 meters makes sense but how does it work beyond that? Do you then attach the two further extensions to get it to 16m?
The one on TA is being advertised as having "the number 7,9,10,11 brand new never used" which makes me wonder if they have been replaced or if the ones off the 724 have been used instead.

So I am not sure what to do now. I don't know whether to go up to Fosters and have a wiggle of what they have up there (never the same without elastic in the top kits) or just hang on until a TP comes up. I need to get this one right as I wont be in a position to change pole again for a while and obviously don't want to drop a bollock! Image
