Shush Larry - people will start talking :D :D :D

Well here we go...................

Alarm went off at 6.50am – oh no – a Cashmores Curse match to fish…….don’t fancy it one iota, but got to go - I’ve got all the paperwork and I also need to welcome all the hordes of anticipated guests. Image

Ah well – one bonus today – no need to knock up a flask of soup. :) I’ll be able to get a burger, hot dog or pork sarnie before the off from Mr Sizzle or one of the other market traders that were relocating to Armitage for the day because of all the celebrities in attendance on this match.

Loading up the car just before 8am, phone rings. Ian H is in the right neck of the woods having set out at 4am all the way from Wiltshire, yes I did say Wilstshire, Image but his sat nav has tried to send him up a non existent road. :o A few reassuring words and I’m on my way.

5 mins away from the venue, phone rings again, this time it’s Daylewlia, who I pick up on the way through.

Arrive and unload the car. It’s a tad quiet with only Ian H loitering around, although KOD is reported to be pegging out (I secretly hope he’s pegging to the left of the bridge and not the back of the churchyard with it’s sandstone cliff).

Apparently word has gone round following the reported Cashmores casualties that only 49 will be fishing, so it’s not going to be a Kamasan qualifier. Because of that, we end up haemorrhaging all those anticipated guests and end up with only 3 visitors, the aforementioned 2 plus Drynet. It’s also Cashmores worst ever turnout for more than a decade :o – only 12 making 15 in total. Anymore poor turnouts like this and I’ll have to go inviting a dozen or so visitors me thinks! :P

KOD has pegged either side of the bridge. Draw time. Favoured areas are low and high with obviously that bend which produced 12lb last match here. Fortunately I’ve managed to talk KOD into taking out some of the pegs he’s dropped in ‘the narrows’. Don’t really want to be on pegs 5 to 11. Image

Hands dip in and pegs are soon claimed. Zorro and Big Geoff are going to be formidable on 1 & 2, particularly as Big Geoff did 9lb from the same area last year, and to make thinks worse, he’s on a redrawn golden peg 2 as Daylewlia pulled the original 17 out.

Ah well – a bit of saving Grace, Yamo pulled out the peg that those in the know wanted, that match winning bend. That should be the ‘blocker’ to keep the pot safe and stop the golden peg being won – and yes, photographic evidence of Yamo drawing a decent peg at last :P is to be found in the gallery.

That was the end of the ‘good’ news as I end up on 10, first peg coming out of the narrows, but still only 9 metres across. Image

I’ve got Tigerbay for company to my left………..’This is nice and comfortable, it’s only a short put over across’ he comments at his peg…………little does he realise the consequences of drawing between both the Bum Draw Master and KOD. Image

The off. Feed some gb on my feet that is a monstrous 3.5ft deep on the end of my net, some punch at the bottom of the ‘sandstone steps’ across and a bit of gb and squatt in two holes hard across.

Off on my feet. Nowt in first couple of mins, but looking around to my right all seem to be into fish across, including Tigerbay with a roach first put in across. 5 mins gone, still no inside response. Better have a quick gander on the punch whilst everyone else is catching and it’s ‘quiet’. First put in, a dumpy little 3 ouncer. Great. Not so great, I’ve tangled my first rig in the process. :'(

Tigerbay confides that his target for the day is a trash free day and smiles on. He was to rue those words as the day unfolded. :D

10 mins in and first boat of the day comes round the corner, and washes a number of punch swims out.

Well what happened next? Well – I reckon this web site has a lot to answer for – suggesting that it was going to be festival time in Armitage - as no one told all the boaters that Brownhill market hadn’t really relocated to Armitage for the day. It seemed like all boaters were heading there to pick up a bargain or two. 13 boats in that first hour. In fact we had 31 all through the match Image Image Image

In between the boats, managed to pick up the odd fish on the punch…………..it was interesting the feeding regimes between myself and Tigerbay to stimulate a bite or two…………shush Tigerbay – keep it to yourself. Image

Mid way through, news filtered through that the guys down the low numbers were having plenty, as was originally feared.

1pm. Time to ring changes again. Punch line seemingly dead, nothing from off the feet or hard across. So a bit of sb was cupped in on the original punch line and feed at 4 mtrs. First put in across……….float buries…………..a good ounce pongo. Second look across, float buries……………….oh no, it’s a Tommy. And again, and again, and again. Small little buggers who wouldn’t open their mouths to aid unhooking.

A look on the 4 mtr line, just the same, more diddy tommies but not as quick.

2pm, the heavens open, and its dark. It’s even darker with the brollie up, to the point that I just cant see what I’m doing. Cant see the hook, can’t get the bait on the hook…..a nightmare :'(

Not quite as much a nightmare as Yamo, or even big Geoff for that matter, are having. Heard a large crack. Looked to my right and there’s a boat in Yamos peg. Seems to have stopped? Has the boat run aground or has his prop dropped off with that noise?

No, it appears Yamo’s got stuck across with a pongo on a bramble. Boat comes round the bend, tries to stop, but doesn’t make it in time. Result? 3 smoshed sections – nos 5,6 and 7 was it Yamo? Image

Even worse still, a rambler has also trod on Yamos top 3. As for big Geoff, apparently last week on one of Yamos knock ups (just how do you get an invite to those?) Geoff had smashed a no7 on a brand new GS10 absolute – this week it was a no 5. Image Image

All out. Packed up and a wander up to Yamo, as KODs raced off with the scales. Apparently HAHA has had a few the other side of the bridge. Yamo reckons HAHA’s been on the dreaded w&j as he seemed to be selecting his bait rather carefully and taking a while to hook it. Image
Question is, did HAHA pop round and catch for 1/2kilo of free joker that the Chockie Munster was giving away on Friday? You kept that quiet if that was the case Chockie Munster. ;)

Enuff of the waffle then ………..here’s who did what from where

PEG ANGLER WEIGHT
1 ZORRO 8.12.0
2 BIG GEOF 5.2.0
3 GEZ 0.15.12
4 COTTI 5.0.9
5 BALL IT IN 0.15.14
6
7
8
9
10 BDM 3.11.2
11 TIGERBAY 0.5.10
12 KOD 3.15.10
13 IAN H 2.2.14
14 YAMO 2.0.0
15
16 HAHA 3.14.6
17 DAYLEWLIA 2.9.12
18 WORMINATOR 5.3.13
19 BRAMBLES 1.9.4
20 DRYNET 2.0.0

Zorros had all roach on including one of a pound and half on half a slice of bread, as too has Big G. Cottis also fished the punch and had a couple of dog roach.
KOD found a couple of small chub as did Ian H. Worminator fished - guess what – and included a big billie that might have knocked 2lb and admitted to losing 4 more.

So here endeth the tale…………sorry if I’ve bored you in the process………..and just to conclude, the mercenaries, I mean visitors (sorry) went home penniless whilst Cashmores members scooped all the pools

Cor what a strange match I had. Absolutely battered on both sides, like a piece of cod as TK would say.

Started off with two roach first two puts in down the middle on punch. Then the first boat goes through so I dropped down the inside where i'd flicked in a few pinkies and float goes under straight away for another small roach.

After the boat had gone I went back in the middle and hooked something that took my elastic out and came off. Shouted to TK had lost a good 'un. Understandably I was looking forward to the rest of the match ....

TK said how many you had, to which I replied three and on punch. TK hadnt caught yet, probaly due to his rig tangle from reading above and I think then went on the punch.

I didnt have another bite that I can be sure of all match.  Whats that all about then   ...... ??????? Image Image

I might not be that good. but dont think anyone would have BET against me successfully AVOIDING another bite even if id tried, so long as I had to have a decently baited rig in the water. Can't work it out at all.

I'd take up darts but i'm not good at that either. :D
