I know a couple of the lads on here knew Don and I'm sure most will of heard of him over the years. Well Don passed away last night, god bless his family, RIp

yes its really sad news Don had been a great friend and fished along side the best always fished for the best teams and that alone tells you how good Don was in his later years Don fished for us Leicester sensas and past on most of his knowledge to help the younger as well as the older members his manna of explaining was second to none and straight to the point [why would you want to do it like that often was used]the well weathered face of Don slaymaker will always sit in my mind alright duck ,have you seen that ,gis a fag, top notch all will remind me of Don i hope he joins the the other legends on the national section bus to cranky point

Didn't know him personally but sure have heard of him, Frank Barlow always mentioned him in his articles, always sad when someone you read about so much when you were young passes away, bet Don, Frank & Toonie have some right laughs on the "Rivers" in the sky.. RIP Don..

Top bloke, always had time for me and one of the best anglers i've ever fished with.
Such a dry sense of humour, I remember on the Voorne canal once next peg we had 30 bream apiece but Don had a tench aswell. I said you'll beat me with that tench," no And, you're bream are all 4oz bigger than mine" lolol.

Spent a year travelling with Don when he joined Future Nathans travelled with him up to the Stainy and Junky had a great laugh listening to his stories about great big roach

too right Pete keep doing what you want to do and get out there on the bank  Don was a pleasure to be around and like you said some of the stories are priceless

One of the proper 'greats' and I hardly ever use the word. Only really knew him to say hello to but knew about his angling ability.
