West Midlands Canals get ready for a Spring clean!
With winter on its way out, the change in season brings with it some essential spring cleaning for British Waterways as Towpath Tidy Week approaches. Members of the public and local communities are being asked to spare a couple of hours to help clean up their local waterway between Monday 10 March and Friday 14 March 2008. The week’s events will bring important wildlife benefits as well as improving the appearance of canals in the West Midlands.

Towpath Tidy is the week-long clean-up campaign organised by British Waterways where its employees join forces with volunteers and local communities to 'tidy' the waterways

In 2007, Towpath Tidy events held across the country helped to give a real boost to the nation's over 200 years old waterway network. The events also benefited waterways wildlife with a staggering 152 tonnes of rubbish removed in just a single week.

Towpath Tidy Week? You'd need a month at the very least just to collect the beer cans from the back of Pegs 65 to 71 on the Walsall Canal! :D
