Macclesfield Canal Annual Charity Match - 14/01/2008
The Macclesfield Canal Annual Charity match will take place on Saturday, 22nd March. It is once again being organised by The Rotary Club of Congleton Dane and Congleton Anglers Society in association with Warrington Anglers Association and Biddulph Victoria Angling Society. The match is in aid of the British Disabled Angling Association, local junior anglers and local children's charities and takes places on the Macclesfield Canal between Buglawton and Astbury in Congleton, Cheshire.
Neil Jellis, media and publicity officer for Congleton AS told Match Fishing:
“This annual match regularly sees an attendance of 100-plus anglers and raises hundreds of pounds for charity. Most years it is the biggest individual match of that weekend in the country. In 2007, the match sold out and raised over £1,500 in the process. The match was won by Lee Addy of Drennan North West with a weight of 13-13-14 from the section at Booth's Wides. Second Place went to Neil Davies of Penketh & Old Hall AS who weighed in 9-7-0 of roach on bread and caster from the Snail Bridge section.”
The match is limited to 160 pegs with an entry of £15 per person. Draw is at 8.30am at The Church House Pub, Buxton Road, Congleton. Breakfasts will be available from 7:30am. Fishing will be from 10am to 3pm. No bloodworm or joker.
The winner will receive a guaranteed £300 plus there are section prizes of £30 every 10 pegs. As usual, there will be a superb raffle with prizes donated by local tackle shops and businesses.
