Match 10 - a grueller to almost end all gruellers

Well well well…………………
Given the cruel easterly winds during the week match 10 was rescheduled on Friday off the inlet and outlet to the Kidney Pond which would provide more shelter as you can freeze your nuts off when the winds from the east on the inlet.
Lesson 1 today learnt as the day unfolded
BDM arrived for the final sortie with 10 mins to spare. Larry Teepot was already there, enjoying a cuppa. A chat how the last match on the KP fished and tactics between LT and BDM were agreed and sorted.
Lesson 2 learnt. The KP can be an enigma.
LT kindly also passed BDM some sb ingredient, not used by BDM for a decade or so, with the assurance that it was a killer for roach too.
Given the chosen tactics, when BDM pulled up at the KP he’d already got the headlines for this match penned and mentioned them to LT……………….only prob was as the day unfolded they applied to the BDM.
With only 10 turning up, 2 sections of 5 were sorted – pegs 1-5 and the pick of 10-16. BDM didn’t fancy favoured peg 1 one iota……it was covered in a thick slurry slick, but the vote was for it to be in.
There were a few moans and groans when BDM ended up with peg 3 left in the hat, LT fancied a repeat on 11 but Drynet snared that peg, the Shark continued his drawing form with 1, Zorro pulled out plum 2, LT and Yamo in chub corner with Heinzer on 16.
Well what a strange day. Setting up BDM thought he’d lost a top 3 – left on the inlet last session. Time for a walk over there to see if it was still on the bank. No – BDM found he’d took it out of the tube and already set it up?????????? (Must have 1 less on a Friday night).
The off. Similar tactics as last match on peg 3 applied, only attacked more aggressively.
Lesson 3 learnt.
Cotti and KOD were into chublets from the off on not so hot pegs 4 & 5 as cusses rang into the air as they repeatedly got snagged in the brambles.
BDM’s track rig needs modification. Slide draw opened…………..what no line, no hook tyer and other gizmos, all left in the kitchen after the last rig tying session. A great day this is turning out to be.
An hour in and Yamo reports that he and LT are have a grueller in the corner with 2 gudgeon between them. BDM aint doing too bad then with his 3 gudgeon.
Well not a lot left to report. With only a couple of pumps of warm water in it’s fished hard – a real grueller for most.
BDM’s lines have failed him as he sets a new personal best for his lowest ever recorded weight on there, not adding to the 3 gudgeon snared early on
Here’s the result
1. The Shark 1 – 6 – 7
2. Zorro 1 – 14 – 14
3. BDM 0 – 1 – 13
4. Cotti 0 – 14 – 2
5. KOD 3 – 2 – 13 Section winner
10. Phil B 0 – 7 – 5
11. Drynet 1 – 5 – 4
14 Yamo 1 – 15 – 6 Section winner
15. Teepot 0 – 3 – 5
16. Heinzer 1 – 0 – 6
I was gunna do a series postscript, but think I’ll leave it at loads of things learnt – some good some not so good.
But the best part was meeting a host of new characters……….......thanks to all who turned up
