Tony Keeling !!, Neil Dale, Dave Barnard, I recognise a few faces !! just cannot put the names to em !!!
I think one reason I am struggling is that a lot of them do not fish anymore, yet I did have the odd trip out that way !!!
I would like Bill to tell us where they are now if he knows that would be interesting.

yer it was on the oxford canal, think the individual winner was a guy called Mark Stabler.
the bloke who came second was Dave Moss from Luton. He came for a walk along our winter league match the other week and stopped for a chat, in fact i couldn`t get rid of him. He was still talking as I had a bite on me lob rig on 0.22 and 12 hook up against the brambles. Hooked a massive perch that came to the surface, shook its head like a tarpon and spat the hook! That fish would have got me in the frame or even won the match. I blamed the old Woman's wetter for gassing too much and putting me off. Funnily enough he went after that.

Mullarkey, I remember Mark Stabler, he used to come and fish the Trent and Mersey at Burton. He was very good with the rod and line fishing caster, again another angler who packed up just a few years after he won the national. He was a nice bloke aswell (hopefully still is !).

No Dave Barnard Choppie, - before his time; which ones d'yer wanna know?

It was the Oxford Canal on September 13th 1986. The roads were covered in ice after a heavy overnight frost and it p1ssed down all day.

I belleve it was perhaps the only time an out and out proper Club won the National, There are a couple of 'imports' in the pic but they did not fish; they were all guys that fished as IW members. happy days Image Image Image Image Image

The draw was at Banbury Cattle Market, - that is probably why we did so well Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

Mullarkey - Dave Moss always liked a chat! he's been managing the Luton AC team the last few years ..... I used to fish with him in the Black Horse team of the late 80s and early 90s
Of that era the four top Luton anglers in the BH team were
Dave Sayce (who won a leeds liverpool national)
Mossy
Pat Mills
Ken Cavendish (last person I saw using a throwing stick with ground bait in a match)

Ere we go.

Front row as you are looking at them: 2nd left, the late Robin Tooth, next Keith Hassall (still doing a bit of pleasure fishing, next barry Carr (living in Rugby still fishing some matches); end Wilf Robins (still fishes with the Chase Social lads).

Next row up left Eric Ward (rarely fishes); then Neil Dale (has Heronbrook) then Paul Aston (not fishing; then Alan Chatfield (not fishing, owns a few garages). Next to Pete Madeley (partly hidden) is Barry Bates (not fishing).

back row, next to me (still getting stuck up crappity smack trees), almost hidden Loz Wright (we have lost contact); end John Causer.

Some may recognise 4th from left at back Nick Bryan who used to fish matches on rivers (still does I think).
