I work basically on the phone and the PC.

I was having loads of iffy phone calls around lunch time, - I believe these are to set a time before the 'biggie'.

Yesterday lunchtime I gets a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft Windows saying they had picked up all sorts of problems in my PC. I took it all in like the stupid Woman's wetter I am. To cut it short they got into my machine but after a while there something I said that made me realise what I had done and what he was up to. He was after money to clean up some discs, it was a lot as well. Anyway after nearly an hour, I kept telling him he was getting crappity smack all from me, he blew up, muttered sumat derogitory and slammed the phone down

I felt like a right Woman's wetter but rung my engineer straight away, he was telling me not to worry and he came and sorted it. Luckily I have no bank details on there but they had switched all sorts of things off.

If you check up on AAMMYYscam you can read what I fell for.

I only say this because if anyone rings and says they are from Microsoft or Microsoft Windows tell them to crappity smack off, - it is a SCAM. nobody ever rings from Microsoft, - I know that now :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Image Image Image Image

I get one or two a week - all variations on the theme Bill mentioned. I either say "Computer? What computer??" and the phone goes dead instantly, or I just put the phone on mute and leave it on the table for twenty minutes. It's their time to waste - not mine ;)

Had one of these calls a few months ago, some Indian type bloke telling me he was from Microsoft and that he could come onto my PC, I let him go on for a while, then I told him that I worked in the IT Industry myself and that Microsoft would never phone, he tried to argue the point for about 10 seconds before, again I pointed out that that I was an applications person and I am surrounded by qualified Microsoft techies at which point he he put the phone down.

I think what they would try and do is to go to a website and download some software, this would probably be a keylogger so it can log your keystrokes whilst going into your bank, they then have your details, the rest as you say is history, especially your money.
