2000 lb of fish between 22 anglers
Now thats a good venue, and a nice change to struggling for a few pounds on some other venues. Nice to see even the anglers with, lets say, restricted abilities, have a cracking day and finish up with big smiles
. As for me...well I thoroughly enjoyed the "experience", and it proved how far behind the experienced "puddlers" I am. Well done to all the lads with the ton plus weights, it was a pleasure to watch from the other bank. The banter was cracking...what else could it be with FK and Tricast opposite, and my usual "partner in crime" Mick next to me. Cheers for the entertainment boys
Certainly worth another booking Mr Match secretary, just to see if some of us can put into practice some of what we learned yesterday.
To be honest, I am looking forward to the next match on the Trent even more, a natural venue where ability and tact mean so much more

Mick was next to me Barry, and his face was a treat at the end when we weighed him in.....as I said in my original post, there were lots of happy faces from the lads who normally sit there patiently all match for just a few pounds. A pleasure to see, and brings home the fact it not all about "emptying" a peg but the joy of many members having a red letter day

what a day!! really enjoyed it and what an impressive venue all round
Met with a smile ,shown were to park. Great breakfast and a great days fishing had by all
How can it get any better?
Infact the only thing to moan about was the state of the nets :(
Arriving at my peg and with a plan in mind it didn't look to inviting :( (no features either side in margins)
but that soon changed after a few minutes with the signs of fish feeding to me left
Out comes the new pole (should have a good christening here me thinks) 3 rigs set and were ready with plenty of time.
2 keepnets in having checked all 3 for holes when collecting, disaster 1 bank stick attachment broken on net 3 back to the trailer to change.
then back to the tackle shop no weigh net :(
straight from the whistle fed 3 lines first put in to the left and fish on this was soon netted to find disaster number 2 landed fish lifted up to unhook and found large hole in landing net which the fish tried to make a bid for freedom. well after several attempts to mend (bodge ) and get round the problem after a fish made his escape through the hole it was off to the trailer again :(
after that the next 4 hours flew by with fish after fish
at the weigh in I would have been happy with a ton but to hit 150 blew me away
Now some people will say this is not proper fishing but personally once and a while its nice to go to a venue and have it live up to expectations and every one to have a few and as has already been said watching the smiles as we weighed in really puts the end to a perfect day
Oh and why did I buy a new pole when I could have saved a fortune and just bought 2 top kits
Dont know about any one else but out of all the fish I caught only remember seeing one fish with a deformed mouth and that wasn't that bad so they must be doing some thing right there
