A depleted turnout of 11 were greeted with a slight sprinkling of snow. No problems on the outlet thought BDM, the inlet might just be a different proposition.
In fact BDM had had a ‘mars bar bet’ with JK the night before that he wouldn’t draw on the outlet (which he secretly wanted too)
Pegging sorted with MrV who had arrived early and put 17 in. With only 11 turning up it was 2 sections, 6 on the outlet, 5 on the inlet.
‘Hum……where do I really want?’ thought BDM as he’d clocked that there was no warm water being pumped in the KP which flows through to the outlet. ’Yep, still the outlet’.
Well the first 6 to draw all pulled outlet pegs and there was a few happy faces as they wandered off to their pegs………..and then there were a few not so happy faces :( when they realised they were on the inlet.
BDM was left with peg 5 in the bag (well MrV’s hat) on the inlet - mars bar won off JK .
Even worse KOD was next peg to BDM……….that’s usually a recipe for a disaster…….that’s why he got his name.
Well what a start.
First rig on and plumbed up across. Sorted. Not sorted…… the rig was subsequently trashed before rig 2 was set. Was it gunna be one of those days again……..had the KOD factor already kicked in? >:(
New rig on for across.
2nd rig sorted for down the track and bottom of far shelf, with a longish line to allow for exploring every inch of the swim.
A 3rd rig, for a choppie get out of jail swim was set up.
The off. Two cups of punch fed both down the track and across.
KOD who was not too chuffed to put it bluntly at being on the inlet had a fish across first put in. Then another. Then another. In fact 5 for about 10oz before BDM had his first bite on punch which promptly jettisoned the hook and came off. :'(
No more bites on punch so a favoured double disco over the punch lines started producing a few roach. Around the hour mark a flurry of caster roach of a better stamp. Then the KOD factor kicked in as a better unseen fish snagged BDM on inside weed. A few expletives from the BDM as rig 2 was trashed. A duplicate was set up but it just didn’t seem to work the same for some reason
KOD continues to batter the BDM and reports that MrV is catching a decent stamp of fish.
Yamo puts in an appearance and reports that the outlet is fishing dire down their end. He’s dry, Zorro’s had two minnows and the Chockie Munster has about 30 bits.
Time marches on as odd fish grace the nets of BDM and KOD. About an hour to go BDM hits a his best fish of the day. Take it steady and avoid that inside weed. A few more expletives as the unseen munster comes off in the track. >:(
What a nightmare for BDM who manages to trash another rig following that. >:(
A late flurry or silvers but KOD has been putting fish in the net too……….too much ground for the BDM to make up he thinks, especially as KOD snares a late 1/2lb plus Kinver tiger.
All out and time for the scales.
Drynet first to weigh sets a cracking pace with a dead 6lb of mainly Kinvers. He’s also got a 2lb jackpike out too
With the absence of warm water the rest of the outlet has fished dire……….the worse by a mile in all the BDM’s trips to it over 20 years plus.
Simple Simons picked up a few bits and pieces on his beloved punch whilst Chockie Munster has gone out and out for the beasties…………
With no one getting remotely close, Drynet secures the section. Onto the inlet.
MrV set’s the benchmark for the inlet.
KOD follows with a similar net……..this is close…………..call it right SS (who is on the beam scales).
Another similar net follows from the BDM
Anyway, enough of my waffle……….here’s the results
